I shall switch on and watch with great interest. ☕🛋 📺
Ops forgot my 👓 cant see sod all without them.
There I was at the ready with my bowl of porridge to find the veiwing was a let down and not very informative.
What they needed was some of us on there to inform them how the deficeincy affects our lives and wellbeing.
Good idea. I wonder if anyone would listen if wrote 🤔
Don't worry whether they'll listen or not. Just write.
If you (and others) don't, they most certainly can't listen to your view.
Definately. It’s just Iv found it lost cause in the past and tooo frustrating at times 😊. Gone are days when you got a reply lol
Here's a link to the BBC iPlayer of the programme this morning
If you see this later, (and the link above doesn't work) it was the Morning Live show from 06/07/2022. I'm afraid though it offered nothing for current sufferers. I didn't disagree with anything that was said but it was very superficial and the only use was for someone feeling tired who might be thinking about seeing advice.
GOOD ! Finally, someone talking sensibly about the risk to vegans. Also good that pernicious anaemia was actually mentioned, that other non-dietary causes were mentioned, that taking a friend to the GP was mentioned (although doubt you'd get to see one in reality.) Good that his symptoms list included more than just tiredness. Good that so many people got in touch about B12 deficiency that there was Q&A at the end - especially because someone asked whether a FBC would include a test for B12. If only......
Bad that in the reply the doctor talked about FBC including a red blood cell count - when macrocytosis only happens in about 60% of cases.
"Among 141 patients with neuro-psychiatric abnormalities due to cobalamin deficiency, we found that 40 (28%) had NO anaemia or macrocytosis."
So perhaps we should send him Martyn Hooper's book - I think he might actually read it.
Let's hope the "concerned well" do not consequently exasperate GPs sufficiently to swerve the B12 tickbox, as advised by that Essex GP in his rather flippant article: It is certainly not the new Vitamin D - since barely anyone has heard of it and those that have do not seem to have much of a clue, including many GPs.
Still, more "goods" than "bads" - so wondering if he himself, since he suffered from long covid, needed B12 (?)
