EOD makes symptoms much worse!

Injectioning EOD, my neurological symptoms seem to get much worse. Is that healing or my body trying to get rid of the b12. If I wait by the 4th day I feel better. I wonder if I could still heal if I took it weekly. If I take massive doses of folate, it seems to help the symptoms. I take Vitamin D, Magnesium and try to get lots of potassium. What should I do?

If it was me, I'd do what suits your body best - if doing your jabs every 4 or 5 days works well then try that for a while and see how you go! If weekly suits you and you feel better then try that - we are all different, with different demands. Keep an open mind and be prepared to change your frequency as you need to. Well done on doing your jabs and supporting supplements.

I suggest that a daily broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement may well help you, if you can take one, as it will boost all the essential nutrients you need alongside the B12, but allow for this with the other things you are taking.

Thanks, which would you recommend?

To be honest, supermarket A-Z ones are as good as the more expensive branded ones, if not better. They tend to have the maximum amount of each vitamin and mineral that you are likely to need in a balanced ratio.

Hi,

When I started treatment, my symptoms worsened for a while before starting to improve.

I thought of it as my nerves waking up after years of being starved of B12.

"If I take massive doses of folate"

How much folate are you taking?

Have you previously been diagnosed with folate deficiency?

BNF Folic Acid

bnf.nice.org.uk/drug/folic-...

See Cautions section in above link which says that folic acid should never be given on its own for PA (Pernicious Anaemia) or other megaloblastic anaemias caused by Vit B12 deficiency as this may lead to SACD, subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord.

Have you had any tests for iron deficiency?

Symptoms Diary

Might be helpful to keep a daily symptoms diary to spot trends in your symptoms.

I am not medically trained.

Links to forum threads where I left detailed replies with lots of B12 deficiency info eg causes and symptoms, more UK B12 documents, B12 books, B12 websites and B12 articles and a few hints on dealing with unhelpful GPs. Folate deficiency is also mentioned.

Some links may have details that could be upsetting.

Some of the info will be specific to UK.

I feel absolutely awful if I try to inject too often. I get lots of tingling, a thumping headache and feel really tired, which takes 2 days to ease off. I'm ok 3-4 days apart, but jab every other day and I'm on my knees. My sweet spot seems to be weekly, although after I had Covid, I needed a few extra jabs between.
