Maybe I'm panicking but ........

Just a thought. With all that's going on should we stock pile B12? Depressing but I couldn't stand going back to the state I was in before I starting taking B12.

Well , if it relieves your anxiety , just order extra now , bearing in mind that if you order from a large pharmacy with a rapid turn over , (e.g. versandapo.de) the ampoules will have a use by date of about 2 years

I think it’s ok to have a little extra but please don’t stockpile. Shortages happen for two reasons: one, not enough of a product being made and two, the demand being higher than the normal amount being produced. If we all stockpiled B12 it would create a shortage and those that didn’t stockpile would be left with nothing while others have way more than they need. Not sure how it was in other countries at the beginning of the pandemic but in the US toilet paper was next to impossible to find. Not because there wasn’t enough being made but because people were hoarding it.

Yes I remember when I put my last loo roll in the holder. I was lucky in finding the last pack in the ironmongers, who normally did not stock them.

I take oral B12 and I think most people buying that don't have B12d. But I is a lifeline for me. But if things carry on escalating I can see problems ahead because most GPs think that B12 injections aren't life or death medication.

Yenno I have the same thought. Trying to maintain a balanced view as I know I can tend to neurosis and medical anxiety, but as you say going back ‘into the dark’ isn’t an option either. I really don’t fancy running out in times of peace let alone crisis.

As wedgewood wisely says, maybe it’s worth looking ahead but not more than a year or so, to keep the supply chain as fair as possible and to be realistic.

Even getting excess to have a years worth would disrupt the supply chain and cause a shortage. I understand not wanting to risk not having it available. My neurological symptoms get worse a day or two before my next injection and I inject once a week. (Hoping to move to twice a week.)

Not what you're looking for?
