Does anyone know about the website Perniciousanemia.org which calls itself Pernicious Anemia Relief made in Israel with ❤️ By Regev Elya? He sells Methelcobalamin to PA patients. Is this legit?

I'm not really sure about that site, but I looked up the source of the product he sells - and he's charging several times the price that you would pay by buying directly from the source instead. And I'm not very comfortable with using a multi-dose bottle with a screw cap lid. Not sure that it would be safe over time, as the solution may no longer be sterile after opening the bottle the first time.

I've come across the site before - its genuine but it is a commercial site. There is some advertising hype.

Not sure it really is that much more expensive than charging at cost given that it is injectable methyl which is less stable than hydroxo and cyano and hence more expensive.

The legal position in Israel is probably that injectable B12 can be supplied without a prescription. You would be allowed to import medication you can't get into the US for personal use using a humanitarian relief - but it would be for personal use and not redistribution.

Just to add…

This site is a commercial retail site and nothing to with the Pernicious Anaemia Society.

I agree with Gardenswithwings - once opened and mixed with sterile normal saline (a prescription item only in the U.K.), the product is no longer sterile and therefore NOT suitable for multi-dose use for injection (high risk of contamination). The safety data sheet makes for interesting reading! Plus they purchase from a U.K. supplier and sell at vastly inflated prices!

Some of the information on the website is accurate, and some very much not!

I wouldn’t purchase this for injection, from either supplier. Much safer to use single dose sterile ampules for injection - manufactured to higher medical grade quality standards.

Agreed.

He is selling the methyl powder which you can buy direct here in the UK.

Yes indeed WorkingProgress . Hope you don’t mind but I’ve redacted the name of the UK company (no wish to ‘advertise’ them here - for obvious reasons) 😉🙂.

I have no problem with you removing the name of the company at all. Single use vials are the only way in my opinion.

Thanks WorkingProgress. Agree about single use B12 ampoules.
