Official: Hydroxocobalamin increases my nervousness/anxiety

I’ve been trialing Cyanocobalamin for the past month and experienced limited side effects but went for my NHS injection on Monday and subsequently the nervousness and tingling has heightened again 🤯

It’s official that Hydroxocobalamin has a negative effect on my nerves - anyone else suffering?

Probably cyanocobalamin doesn't work for you and it doesn't even affect your nerves hit hydroxocobalamin affect your nerves. In my case cyanocobalamin affect my nerves but it didn't work for me and my symptoms increased alot so fast then I started to take methylcobalamine timed release in high doses. It helped alot and even increased my injection tolerance. I have never tried hydroxocobalamin but soon I'm going to switch to that. I have bought Panpharma B12 depot. I think the best way is to watch symptoms in longer term not just watching symptoms soon after injection. Anyways cyanocobalamin doesn't work for everyone but it also doesn't cause antibody secretion against it on the other hand hydroxocobalamin works for most people but body make antibody against it so may cause some unwanted reactions. I'm going to try it by myself for first time I hope everything go fine.

Yes, a proportion of people on B12 injections can develop antibodies to transcobalamin according to research from the 1970s. This is not just after hydroxocobalamin, but cyanocobalamin as well. It may explain why some of us end up needing such frequent injections. However I don't think it causes the bad reaction that user2020-1 describes.

Oh okay . Not seen any info on that. Not good and a little odd as our bodies need it and not a chemical or virus

This paper is one example, have seen it explored somewhere else too.

I apologize if I asked before (brain fog 🙄), but can you tell me what brand of methylcobalamin time released you are using? Thank you. 🙏🏼

we do have others on the forum such as clivealive who don't respond well to hydroxocobalamin - everyone is different. You may be able to talk to your GP and ask if they can prescripe cyanocobalamin though it isn't listed in the BNF, except in tablet form.

Only one brand of Hydroxocobalamin does that to me.Sometimes j can feel 'wired after a IM one .

Worth noting brand too.

Usually my b12 Hydroxocobalamin calms my head abd irritability

Only had cynocobalamin in tablets when I tried them

What brand of hydroxy didn't agree with you. I mistakenly thought there was no difference.

It is all supposed to be generic but Cobalamin H didn't agree with me twice. So I avoid it.

I always check dhat brand I'm injected with.

I'm fine on r other brands.

It has one different additive/ preservatatuve so must be that??

No, hydroxo has the complete opposite effect on me. The more if it i have—zero anxiety, better sleep, more energy. The only time I notice any restlessness, nervousness is when I’m due for a weekly shot.

I hope you find something that works for you. Sounds like it might be cyano. Good luck!

Have had hydroxocabalamin injections for 24 years obviously daily and then weekly when first diagnosed, but now every 6 weeks, or sooner if I feel the need. My GP is marvellous, he understands that everyones needs are different and so I have a repeat prescription at any time I need an injection. Try hydroxocabalamin it has changed my life, as well as having an understanding GP. Many regards x
