Good morning all.

So after trying Probiotics a while ago without any improvement, (thank you Nackapan!!) my partner ordered a hair sample test for me.

It shows a Streptomyces and Thermophilus imbalance. Does this mean I should percivere with probiotics?

Also. It shows low Vitamin A, low vitamin B1 and low Iron.

Also shows Asparagine, Histidine, L-Glutamine and Phenylalanine, with a list of other areas of imbalance.

My concern is with having PA, if I can't absorb B12 from my diet or tablets, will I also have the same issue with B1 & Vit A?

Really can't comment on the accuracy or not of hair tests. If you have PA it can affect the absorption of other vitamins and minerals - most commonly folate and iron.

Low in range isn't generally a problem as many vitamins and minerals aren't stored.

Having PA doesn't meant that you won't absorb any B12 from tablets - passive absorpiton is totally independent of the mechanisms involved in PA - its just that passive absorption - like just about anything to do with B12 - varies quite a lot from individual to individual. It works for some but not for others.

I've found I need to take iron now as a maintenence dose. Was daily then every other day now every third day 210mg ferrous fumerste

Taking spartone and 14mg on the day of a multuvit

My conclusion is although I can't absorb enough B12 from food or oral tablets am obviously able to absorb enough folate ( from bloods taken) also other nutrients.

So although absorbtion is less efficient it hast stopped.

So now youve identified what yih need you may just need higher amounts to compliment what you eat.

I reduced saturated fats in a bid to reduce the highest evef cholesterol level.

It dud help going by April bloods. Seemingly I do need more fat though as I think one if the causes of a very dry itchy scalp now. Also tok much weight loss.

Im back on chips at least once week! Have loads if good fats in nuts abd avocados ect.

So what ever you choose to do go carefully and slowly.

Some 'bodies' function well on different levels

I don't understand what all those nutrients are . Deniseinmilden will and others.

Hope otherwise your new shoes have helped and you are keeping as well as you can.

You've probably been low for years in thoses things. So go steady.

I've never scrutinised everything so much.

I really do think ,foods you fancy are good for you in some way.

I do live to eat

Some eat to live

As for prebiotics I only have live yoghurt.

I do have more lemon juice and cider vinegar with 'mother' (on my chips lol)

You may well benefit from a prebiotic that suits you. My daughter does.

My inability to digest at times goes with fatigue and timing of foods rather than what I eat it seems.

I think not being able to do enough exercise can causes a vicious circle.

One last thing . If you choose to see a nutritionist beware of tsking sudden high supplements as can throw your body off in another way.

This happened to my sister.

Take care
