Menopause and P.A??
How long have you had PA?What is your current I jection frequency?
Hi.. i was diagnosed sept 2019 but looking back has been quite a few years. Im injecting monthly but now going to 3 weekly. Was wondering if this could be due to starting menopause?? Thanks for reply..
Yes I think it is.Your body works differently after the menopause.
For mw it was the trigger of b12 deficiency. Too much coincidence.
As nothing else's had changed
Some menopausal symptoms are very similar to b12 /PA symptoms
If you benefit from a higher frequency of b12 have it and review at a later date .
Menopause came first for me and it certainly hit me with a lack of energy along with other symptoms. HRT hugely improved matters but I realise this is a personal decision. For me, it’s been great but I do see a menopause specialist doctor and receive good quality hormone replacements. I’d have less confidence taking the standard hrt tablets handed out by GPs (and these also fail to replace testosterone).
If only there was a B12 specialist doctor! Sadly there isn’t so even though my GP is better than many (I have a prescription for monthly injections) I’ve had to treat my PA by doing my own research and sourcing B12 for si.
I can usually distinguish between menopause and hrt symptoms so I can step up the oestrogen gel/B12 as need be.
If it’s menopause I start getting hot flushes. If it’s PA I start forgetting what I’m saying mid sentence and forget words.
I was newly diagnosed with PA and before I knew I had it, I caught myself forgetting words and what I’m saying in the middle of sentences! I thought I was getting dementia lol! I’m glad to know I’m not alone. Do you know if this is common for people with PA?
Yes I’ve heard forgetting words/what you’re talking about mid sentence quite a few times in this forum.
I also remember being on a very easy low level training course at work and we had to do a role play and bring out 3 points. I just couldn’t remember all 3 points at the same time which really worried me as in my time I’ve passed tough professional exams and here I was unable to remember 3 things at once.
I also thought I had early onset dementia!
Oh really!! Wow.. you must be very in tune with your body.. im trying very hard 🤞🤞.. Thank you and yes a b12 specialist would be amazing and probably very rich 😁😁
