Worry about MS?

I do not have a P.A. diagnosis (negative for IF antibodies). When first tested my B12 was 146. All other blood tests come back fine. MRI of my head came back fine.

I have many symptoms that come and go. Many are neurological. I have been getting injections of B12 for almost a year at different frequencies . Lots of ups and downs but much much better than I was a year ago.

I have some major anxiety in terms of possible MS. My docs have told me it’s not likely and they aren’t interested in any further tests. They said my head MRI was fine so no further testing is needed. I know B12 deficiency has many similar symptoms of Ms. I don’t know why but I think about this daily and it constantly worries me.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this? I’m not an anxious person but this seems to bother me and I don’t know why.

As your injections have fixed some of the symptoms it's most likely that they are caused by a B12 deficiency rather than MS, which should have been picked up on the MRI.

Yes it concerned me as did anything ekses a mri can diagnose. Sometimes MS can be mis- diagnosed because of b12 deficiency damage.

I also have had brain mri scans and asked the neurologist.

I came to the conclusion neurologists know what to look for with MS abd woukd get yiu back to monitor if unsure .

Far more knowledge on MS

Di yiu think your anxiety coukd cone from not enough b12?

I had it at the beginning and paranoia. It was an odd anxiety when I really had nothing to get anxious about. Well obviously at times wondering if I'd get better. More like an autonomic dysfunction.

The paranoia . I was so aware I was being paranoid but couldn't control it .

Bit lije being aware of PMT abd still biting someone's head off.

At great expense you coukd see a neurologist to get a full explanation yo reassure you.

I paid one to interpret my first brain mri as the stress of waiting 12 weeks for my NHS neurologist too much.

This was when the anxiety bad

I knew really I'd be called back alot sooner if they had seen anything they voujd act on.

So two things to think about .

It's perfectly normak to think something has been missed when you've been so ill and there is a poor understanding of thus condition.

B12 deficiency is b12 deficiency whatever the causes.

I think it’s because when I read about MS I feel like I check off a majority of the boxes and that worries me. BUT all of those symptoms are also characteristic of B12. It’s just something I can’t seem to stop thinking about :(

Anxiety actually causes oxidative stress which in turn uses up B12. So B12 will be helpful for anxiety and the effects that this causes. It will also repair your body.

I think it's probably a bit of a vicious cycle, you're sick so you're anxious which then puts your body under more stress.

I would think of it as chipping away at your issues rather than expecting one big 'fix' and you already have proof that this is helping you. So anything positive you can do for your body will be helpful (including b12 injections).

I think it can be a long road back because we probably didn't notice all the bits that contributed to our ill health in the first place.
