Side effect to jab?

Hi all.

I had my first ever hydroxcobalamin shot yesterday at 5.10pm

I wasn’t expecting anything to happen as I read that they don’t start working for few weeks etc and I’m so low.

So I had an uneventful evening and went to bed at 11pm. This is when it starts.

- literally couldn’t sleep, I felt like there was a wall stopping me so I stayed up all night wide awake.

- felt like on drugs, super pumped super excited and wanted to get up and do jumping jacks.

- at one point my brain was like Hampster in a wheel it would not shut up thinking constantly about everything a mile a minute which at one point I couldn’t stop which was a bit scary.

I think I finally got sleep around 6am for few minutes but hard to say as brain won’t stop or slow down.

I can’t find any online details about these side effects, and surely this wouldn’t happen so soon.

Never had any issues sleeping before I love sleep lol

After a fair few years of SI, I still make sure I do it first thing. Even after years of SI I know I won't sleep if I do it later in the day, however, now that my levels are good, I don't get the incredible high I used to.

Having been on this forum for 6 years , I can’t say that I’ve ever heard of this side-effect , but nothing surprises me that’s to do with P.A. and it’s treatment . It’s such an under-researched condition , and it and B12 treatment affects patients in so many and varied ways . I hope as your deficiency diminishes, that your side-effect will also . We will be interested to hear . It was interesting to read what Baggy8 had to say . Best wishes .

I prefer to have b12 around 10 to 12 in the morning, normally this time of day gives me a better night's sleep.Never had an high though.

I've only felt 'wired like that once since 2018.I had an IM b12 given rather quickly by a different nurse at 3pm.

Everything was racing even my heart and tinnitus .

I found it scary too.

I would ask next time what brand they are injecting just so you know.

I have four brands which are fine one diesnt seem to suit me as slightly different additives .

I always note what the nurse is giving.

I always have my injection in the morning.

Some find it better at night.

Hopefully it was a one off for you and set your nervous system in overdrive bringing the levels uo quickly.

If you say your b12 levels are very low mine were too and probably you'd body got overwhelmed at the sudden flood of b12.

At one point the doctor wanted to stop them but i carried on.

I found the loading doses very difficult abd drank alot if water fir some reason.

I was also ravenous but bedbound.

I lost weight too.

I do hope you get the benefits soon.

It is a rollercoaster that the medics have little knowledge on.

Several side effects think of it as your body waking up.

Re-booting I used to call it.

Wishing you well

I can remember you being concerned about it! I'm glad you've stuck with it as you have definitely improved - it's even noticeable from your comments on here!

All the best to you. x

I have heard of people not being able to sleep and the beauty salons advertise it giving you "vitality" so it can happen.

I'm sorry you got such a reaction this time. It should settle down as your body gets better.

It's a good idea to take a broad spectrum A-Z multivitamin and mineral supplement - cheap supermarket ones are well balanced and as good as any. Eat as broad and nutrient rich diet as possible too - it really does help with this!
