Wrong size needle?

So I’ve ordered and received everything for self injecting B12. I am however bricking it as I think I may have ordered the wrong injection needle! It’s 23G x 1 1/4” and it’s absolutely mahoosive! Anyone able to confirm?

I ordered mine from Medisave. I have the 23g x 1.25 for injecting. It’s blue. I go into the muscle. It does look big but gets to where it needs to go. I use the green needle for drawing up and that is even bigger!! Size depends on whether you are going into the muscle or subcutaneous.

Those are the two I ordered too. Just wanted to make sure first. I’ve just done injection and it was actually ok. Think it was just the thought of putting that size of needle in.

If you’re slim you might be able to get away with the shorter slimmer purple needle to inject.

If you grasp/pinch the full thickness of the skin/fat above the muscle you intend injecting this will give you an idea of what is double the thickness of the skin and fat above that muscle. You can then use a needle length that’s 3/4 that double thickness.

The purple needle is 25G and 1 inch in length.

You could use that big needle for drawing up the B12 ( I assume you are injecting I.M. and the needle gets blunt when it touches the bottom of the ampoule (ouch!) Unless you are really overweight , a 25G x1 inch needle would be more comfortable for injecting into the middle outside third portion of your thigh ( vastus lateralis muscle ) Best wishes .

I used the green one for drawing up. I’ve done the injection with the blue one and I survived hopefully I will get over the fear of injecting myself as I have no issue with anyone doing it for me.
