Homozygous for C677T of MTHFR

Hello everyone,

I received my results from 23andme and then used Promethease to analysis them which confirmed that I am homozygous for C677T of MTHFR. As my folate was on the floor could this be the missing piece in the puzzle and that I should take a B complex with L Methylfolate instead of the folic acid I was prescribed. I am still taking the folic acid prescribed as I am due to get retested over the next couple of weeks so I am hoping it is back within range. Your thoughts and advice always appreciated.

Best wishes,

Cathy

Try methylfolate. I'm not an expert on this, but a lot of this is trial and error. See how you feel when taking it. I take a 400ug dose from time to time.

Please consult your pharmacist before supplementing on top of the dose that your GP has prescribed. I would suggest not muddying the waters until after you have been restested.
