I had my flu shot yesterday and today I feel really ill. Has anyone else found this? I am 3 months into b12 injections .. on and off but currently injecting 100mcg cyano every other day. A lot of my symptoms were so much better until today and I feel like I’ve gone backwards 😕

Hi Rex2020 I guess you are not in the U.K. if you are using cyanocobamalin.

I too felt a little off colour after the 'flu jab a couple of weeks ago but that is par for the course for me.

Hopefully in your case it is just the 'flu jab causing you to feel ill and that it will pass in a couple of days.

I am not a medically trained person and I wish you well

I am also on cyanocobamalin 1000mcg injections

Thanks for the reply. Yes I’m in the USA.. I started to feel ill last night after I got the flu shot in the afternoon. I am hoping that’s what it is. I feel like my b12 symptoms have been exacerbated.

I am taking only 100 ug of the cyano.. I read the package insert and that’s what it said for a deficiency.. I want to do the lowest possible.

How long have you been injecting cyanocobalamin? I am hoping to cut back soon to once monthly. These symptoms are a bit of a rollercoaster once you feel well for a bit you take another dip.

Flu jabs quite often have that effect and it just shows how important it is to have them - if the jab can make you feel ill, imagine what full strength flu would be like!

Keep going with the B12 as long as you need it - it won't do any harm and if you need it, you need it: possibly every day for decades.

It's often beneficial to make sure you take a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement, plus get extra folate, potassium, magnesium, iron and vitamin D - ideally from your diet, but do whatever is necessary to keep your levels up.

Hi again Rex2020 do you have any idea why you became Vitamin B12 deficient? Age over 60. Vegan/vegetarian, diabetic, on medications that affect absorption of nutrients via the stomach? The list can go on....

You cannot overdose on B12 as any excess to requirement is excreted via your urine so don't worry if you "feel the need" for a higher dose.

I have been having B12 injections for over 48 years due to Pernicious Anaemia which is just one of the many causes of a deficiency.

I hope that you are able to avoid the dreadful covid-19 - stay safe.

Hi There, can I ask you what's the difference with the b12 you use to what I have Hydroxocoblamin or is it the same ? I'm on 1mg twice a week now SI i still have pins n needle type numbness in feet since diagnosis 2016 only started last Oct S1 but it's only last few months I've tryed twice a week

Hi Hidden as far as I am aware the amount of B12 contained in both cyano and hydroxo is exactly the same - however it is "deemed" that hydroxo "lasts longer" in the bloodstream than cyano so injections may be given less frequently.

I am not sure if there is any scientific evidence to validate to this claim.

I am not medically trained but there are others in this community who are.

I wish you well.

100mcg doesn't sound like the right dose for an injection?

My son in law had an adverse reaction to his flu shot and I have now heard of three more people suffering.

My son-in-law suffered an adverse reaction after his flu shot and I have since heard of three more who have suffered.

At the risk of being controversial I would skip the flu shot period. I'm in the US and about 5 years ago there was a big article about its efficacy and it was only something like 18%. It's really hard for the vaccines to stay current against the flu strains.

Also the multi-vile flu shot is one of the few shots that still can contain mercury in the form of the thimerosol. The newer singles viles contained microparticles of aluminum. As benign as you think aluminum is it's not when you inject it.

When I was in my twenties I got flu shots every year because they were cheap. Several of those years I got terribly sick. At the time I believed the flu shot was ineffective and I was just getting the flu. Now I believe the flu shot was actually making me sick. I've never gotten a flu shot since then.

To me the risks don't outweigh the benefits. If you're a very healthy person then it probably won't matter if you get all these shots. but if you're not there can be some serious consequences depending on the vaccine. Gardasil for one in the US.

I end up asking myself a few questions. Am I at risk for this disease? Is this a serious or lethal disease? Is the vaccine proven to be highly effective? How long does it grant immunity in theory? Is the vaccine safe? In the states we have a voluntary vaccine injury reporting system. It's far from perfect. And most doctors don't even know about it. but it's open to the public and you can go and see the reports mostly by doctors about vaccine injuries. In the future I would expect vaccines to go the way of precision medicine. In other words one size does not fit 100 million.
