I usually get a flu shot (preservative-free for safety) but I waited too long this year and caught the flu. It's been four days of fevers and exhaustion and misery so far. Just horrid. I can see how flu can kill people. I think I'm turning a corner now though, as my symptoms are abating somewhat.
I had a 1mg hydroxocobalmin shot last Saturday (five days ago) right before my symptoms started. Now I'm feeling a bit tingly and am tempted to have another shot ahead of schedule (which is next Saturday).
I've been taking NAC, which is WONDERFUL for flu and congestion, but maybe caused me to use more B12? Or maybe the tingles are just from fighting the flu.
If I have an extra B12 shot, will it benefit me or the virus more? What I'm asking is-- has anyone here tried a shot while sick? Did it make you better or worse?
Maybe I'll take a few sublinguals, that is less B12 than a shot.
Thanks!

can't think of any reason why an additional B12 shot should make any difference whatsoever. If you are self treating and feel you need an extra shot I would go with that.
It's okay, I think, thanks for asking. I take about 6000IU most days, which puts me close to the 50 ng/mL range.
Kicking myself because last week I decided to try an experiment, and stopped all my many supplements. Probably a bad idea to stop taking daily vit C, vit D, folate, and so on, when my body was used to it. I fell sick after about a week of no supps. I'm taking them again now.
Important co-factors are Magnesium and K2-MK7 when taking VitD - which is fat soluble - and is better consumed with a fatty meal. I take a capsule containing olive oil !
I have been giving myself an extra daily shot because I’ve gone down with shingles . There’s no way of knowing if it has helped of course , although the last time I had shingles , I was living in Vienna ,and the only treatment there for shingles was a daily shot of B12 . It may well benefit you but it will certainly do no harm. I do hope you get over the flu quickly . It is really horrible . Keep warm , drink plenty of fluids . Best wishes .
As I understand it, I’ve read that high dose B12 can help shingles. Starting B12 injections certainly helped my shingles. As for illness, whilst I don’t understand the science of it, I find I need more injections if/when I am ill. Btw what is NAC? Glad you are feeling better.
I too am getting over flu, it takes me a long time to recover 2/3 months. So this week I had a delivery of B12. And was able to si. I feel it has helped, as I said it usually goes on for months, and I am definitely better than I was before taking the B12. Good luck.
To followup... I tried one B12 shot, and it improved me enough that I had another the following day. So I've had two bonus shots this week! I might just use daily shots until I'm recovered.
One visible change: the skin under my nose was becoming red and chapped (as it always has done when I'm sick), but after the first B12 shot it began healing. This will be the first time I've had a bad cold or flu, and haven't ended with a sore nose afterward.
I also have been taking a ton of other supplements, and extra allithiamine.
