If I buy B12 injection stuff from Germany or wherever, to do alternate day injections, what sort of quantity is recommended, and does it need to be refrigerated?

I buy 100 ampoules at a time , as the use-by date is about2 1/2 years ahead . The courier charge is about 9;Euros no matter how many you buy Just need to be kept dark and below 25 c, but don’t freeze !

Like wedgewood I order 100 at a time. Indeed, my latest order (getting in before the Brexit chaos) arrives tomorrow.

Injecting every other day 100 ampoules will last until 24th April (from today). Brexit chaos may not be too bad after then.

Nope there is no duty to pay.

Even if we leave with no deal there is no duty under WTO rules. But we will have to cope with VAT. Not sure how that would work.

Many thyroid patients purchase at least some of their thyroid products from around the world.

Until now, those purchasing from outside the EU have ended up being charged VAT on the medicine plus the postage. On top of that a customs clearance charge which, from Royal Mail, is currently £8. From other carriers, it can be significantly more.

The existing £15 low value consignment scheme will disappear, quite possibly on 1st January 2021. From then on, VAT will be payable on every purchase, even if the item costs only one penny.

Two paths to paying this are being discussed. First, it being collected by the vendor with some mechanism for marking the item so it gets through without a second charge. Or, as now, handled by Royal Mail or other carrier.

In my jaundiced view, the £8 charge will rise. And few, if any, vendors will have set up the pay via the vendor mechanism. On top of that, there might be a huge increase in number of items subject to VAT (anything from anywhere in the EU). So we can expect delays. It also falls just after the Christmas peak. Will that be affected by Covid-19 and people not having been able to meet up?

All food for thought. It will all come out in the wash.

I buy 12 ampules at a time as I process very quickly. I give myself shots every week or two. In the US I use the good Rx app and get coupons good at local pharmacies as Medicare Advantage doesn’t cover B12 injections. Be well!
