Can’t sleep

My body was hot last night I don’t no if it was premenopausal but I could not sleep I finally doze off at 3:00 and woke up to heart racing at 5:00 I don’t understand I weight 185 and I take thyroid medicine and b12and iron last Saturday I took my last vitamin d2 ...can somebody tell me what’s going on it happened before.

In a previous posting you wrote that you had been diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune Gastric condition . Well this would indicate Pernicious Anaemia , for which you need B12 injections , because tablets will not help you , due to that gastric condition which inhibits the Intrinsic Factor and stomach acid , both of which are needed to absorb Vitamin B12 . So has your doctor not prescribed B12 injections for you ? Palpitations like yours , accompanied by your diagnosed autoimmune Gastric condition , can be a symptom of Pernicious Anaemia ( along with many others )

I took one injection when I first went to my hematology doctor but since then they told me to take b12 vitamin

Well if you have P.A. you should be on b12 injections for life .

I think you need to consult a different doctor . You can look up autoimmune Gastritis and see what it means .

I agree with wedgesood. I’m still waiting for my IF test but my Neuro has me on injections for a year because I obviously didn’t absorb l it before regardless if the reason.

I have PA and A tropic Gastritis... my body heats up very alarming I'm told it's because of my stomach and PA I'm on injections for life B12 it's much better since I've been on these but still get the odd bout. Hope you get sorted xx

I was just diagnosed with gastritis connected w b12 deficiency - went to ER because I threw up blood. Now I’m on omerazole (sp?) and carafate and have to stay away from coffee, alcohol, citrus, etc. My stomach hurts at times and I imagine the lining so irritated that it bled. Ugh. How were you diagnosed and how are you managing? Thanks.

I had took a endoscopy and a colonoscopy and they seen it

They found stomach cancer which led to further tests this was 10 years ago I have bad spells but on the whole ok I have rhumatoid osteoarthritis fibromyalgia and polymyalgia it's an up hill battle I'm better if I dont have too much carb

How did they treat your stomach cancer? Was this at all connected to b12 deficiency?

I'm a guy, but I can tell you that one of my first symptoms of B12 deficiency was horrible night sweats. About a month after I started my loading injections that symptom went away. I've had a couple sweats here and there a few months later, but not like it was. out of all the research I did I never really came across the night sweats is being a symptom of a B12 deficiency although I think I vaguely remember reading a case study or two on it. however I'm pretty convinced that my night sweats were caused by B12 deficiency because once I started injections that went away very quickly as I mentioned.

Ok but I’m thinking I’m getting premenopausal and I do take b12 vitamin but the Clinc not taking people at the time so I’m still trying to get my blood work done

It could be the peri menopause, it could be your thyroid (or the thyroid meds). It sounds like you also have PA and maybe iron and vitamin D issues.

I don’t think anyone could definitely tell you what’s happened, it would only be guesswork. You’re right to try to get blood tests carried out for all these issues and these will hopefully provide answers.

I had awful night sweats too and I’m a girl, just FYI. They were waaayyyy more than just what hormonal hot flashes would be and I know because I’ve had both! The b12 ones are way worse. I also had them the first 2 injection days but that has subsided.

My first symptoms of pernicious anemia was also horrible night sweats every night. I am only 20 years old and very healthy and normal besides PA. After taking my injections this symptom completely went away.

I had night sweats just like seth12345 describes and mine went away after being on injections! It does happen occasionally but before that it was nightly and I couldn’t sleep at all either. Terrible!!

Waking with a racing heart suggests obstructive sleep apnea, particularly if you were also short of breath.

Have you been tested? OSA is quite common, particularly in the overweight. If you have not specifically had this possibility eliminated by polysomnography it's a very likely cause of waking with a high heart rate. cardiosmart.org/SleepApnea.

Hi Honey 1978, I also get the flushes and waking up with heart racing and anxiety. It is much worse when I need my b12 injection and I had it during all the years running up to diagnosis. I think this is one of the reasons some women are undiagnosed for so long; doctors cannot see past peri menopause. Keep following this up and hopefully you will find the treatment that works for you.
