How often do people SI for PA?

FlorencePocket-Owl profile image

Just wondering how often people SI? I was having mine every 10 weeks for PA but the Doctors are no longer doing B12 appointments. I have received my supply from Germany and thought that every 4 weeks would be good as I really struggle around the 4 week mark. Any info would be great, thanks

The best frequency is the one that minimises your symptoms.

suggest you keep a diary of symptoms and then use that as a guide to frequency - no point until leaving it until you are starting to struggle if there are signs you need it earlier than that

I was SI every 4 weeks between my 12 weekly GP injection but eased it down to every 6 weeks so now alternate GP/SI. Where did you get supply from? as the usual sites are not delivering outside of Germany and as I had "The letter" from GP this morning I'll need more.

I have recently received a delivery from

bodfeld-apotheke.de/

Select language from top right drop down box. Registered account and selected Pay Pals. Delivered in 4 days by DHL.

Hello and thanks for the info. I got my supply from Versandapo (using google chrome to translate to English) about 3 weeks ago and the needles, syringes, sharps bin and wipes from medisave. Hope this helps.

I inject every 2 days. I am still alive but still have symptoms so keeping on going with that regime. It’s highly personal so as others have said do what works for you. Good lucks

I do mine once a month and find I’m pretty good for the most part. I usually start getting mouth ulcers towards the end of the month which reminds me sooner than my calendar.

I do mine every week. It took 2.5 years of treatment and support from this forum to finally realize I needed injections that frequently. Feeling good now. Very Grateful to the group.

Thanks for your reply. How often did you used to have them?

I was profoundly deficient when finally diagnosed - levels were undetectable. I was given weekly injections for 4 weeks, then monthly which allowed complete relapse. At 8 months I begged for an increase and was changed to every other week. At 2+ years, with the support of this forum I convinced my doctor to increase to weekly. On every other week injections I thought I was pretty much well but with weekly injections many symptoms that I hadn't recognized began to disappear. Now I think I am actually properly treated.
