If active B12 is well in range, do you not need to increase injections?

It took me ages to get B12 injections on the NHS and I was never properly diagnosed with anything, IF and GPC were negative and I was put on B12 injections every 3 months for life. I was diagnosed at a B12 level of 105 and I'm not vegan, anorexic etc

This was 5 years ago however I wonder whether my deficiency was treated properly. I have had neurological symptoms until the 6 weeks in-between the hospital consultant taking my blood and then giving me injections, because of this I never had neurological symptoms officially listed and I just got the standard B12 treatment, 6 loading doses in 2 weeks then injections every 3 months. I never felt amazing after getting these injections, I did start to feel better after a few months of them but it wasn't an amazing change. They got rid of the obvious neurological symptoms, all the warts on my hands and I stopped getting sores on my lips but that was about it, most of these symptoms only came on a year before I was diagnosed after years of having low b12. I also notice after I get an injection I get a load of new baby hairs growing on my head (hair growing at the front of my scalp on my hair line).

The symptom I was really hoping to get rid of was my severe dry eyes, I have had a million blood tests to get this diagnosed however everything comes back fine, the only thing that has ever come back abnormal was the B12. I have had my active b12 tested and it is well within the normal range, does this mean the issue definitely isn't B12?

I was considering doing some extra loading doses to see if this is the issue, like maybe giving myself injections every week for a month to see if it does anything however I don't want to do this if it's completely unneccessary. Has anyone ever had any luck giving themselves extra injections?

Thanks

My level was very similar to yours 18m ago with many severe neurological problems.

I'm currently on 2 weekly b12 I jections . I tried 3 weekly 5 times but it set me back. I tried going back to weekly but got ill?? Maybe repair but too debilitating.

High b12 levels on blood test mean nothing once on injections unless 3-4 months ? After injection. Or levrk dropped

Go by your symptoms.

Have you had other vitamins and folate and ferritin and thyroid tested on bloods.

I was told b12 3 monthly for life. I havent yet got to a 3 monthly Inection and doubt I never will now.

Its finding a frequency that you can tolerate and keeps the healing up.

So no easy answer.

The very thing you are thinking about doing it appears to show a need .

I would personally di a blood test first when able.

Decide on an Injection regime and stick with it for a while as you know its never in a linear line .

Dry eyes may be a separate issue if b12 after all this time hast helped.

Try and see after all it wont

Look into your supplements too.
