It's Called "Pernicious" For A Reason

Doctors should know that B12 Injections are anything but non-urgent.Explaining what the word "pernicious" means may be a start.My injection is due the end of May but I fear the worst and I may not get it.How long does an injection take anyway? Seconds.There must be a way to supply this important vitamin supplement when it is required.Not forgetting of course there are people on here with peripheral neuropathy and other serious illnesses caused by the lack of this vitamin who may not agree with it being non-urgent.

I was given two years to live back in 1972 when first diagnosed with P.A. unless I either ate raw liver three time a day or had B12 injections for the rest of my days.

I opted for the injections and I'm still "clivealive" 48 years later at the age of 78.

I would get it booked in and see their response. Mh daughter had a terrible time trying yk book out. She dud get it though and was impressed by the system they had organised for safety

It still amazes me that Docs don't seem to understand the urgency of continued and timely treatment for PA. I just went thru this today. I was diagnosed with PA about 3 years ago. It was during a time that I was dealing with bone tumors which ended with leg amputation while I was losing weight and feeling very ill. I was down to 85 pounds when my oncologist discovered my PA. My primary wanted to drop me to one jab per month and thankfully the oncologist said "no way". I've been self injecting 3x per week since. The problem is I belong to a clinic for a primary that has a revolving door with docs so I never know who'll I'll see. I went to pick up my injectables Monday and found I needed a new script. I spent the last 4 days checking back and forth between pharmacist and clinic each saying it was sent and not recieved. Finally the clinic set up a phone appt with a pa(I just started seeing)this afternoon to discuss me needing a new script. I was relentless and matter of factly with him the importance of staying on my regiment. Thankfully he listened and renewed it for 13 vials a month for the next 6 mos. It didn't hurt that I recently fractured a vertebrae and am experiencing nerve compression pain and how important maintaining nerve health is for me. I wish I had some magic words to make other docs understand so no one with PA should ever have to go without proper treatment.
