I believe this is my first post on here so I hope I'm doing this correctly. My B12 jab was cancelled like so many others on the 27th of March, and 2 weeks later I have found myself in a real state trying to cope without. So I thought I would try my GP and let them know that I was struggling and see if by any chance I could get in. Well low and behold I have an appointment booked in for this Friday, after them having told me that they are now "doing them again". I've not seen any other posts like this one but if I am repeating the already known then I apologise, however the point here is to let you know it may be possible to book up again now. I'm on the south Yorkshire area if that helps anyone considering phoning up to get back in. My support and thought go out to you all and I hope you are all managing well. - Joe

It appears to be different in every area and in every surgery.
There is s drive to treat everyone with tablets.
God can make their own decisions on clinical need always have been able to. Si good you managed to get through and good to encourage others to try too.
Yes I'm having mine at the surgery. Refused to let me have a prescription for subcutaneous or intermuscular. to do at home. Did get some supplies in as no idea how long they will honour this . Appointment cancelled through lack of staff fotr next one says to rearrange .
That’s brilliant for you, there seem to be some who are getting them fortunately. My appointment was booked for today, got a cancellation text yesterday which said to rebook when the Covid 19 restrictions are lifted, no offer of tablets or anything else. It’s only my first one since my loading dose which wasn’t handled properly either ☹️
Tell them you are worried about nerve damage. If that doesn't work write to them and say your are worried about nerve damage. cc a copy to the local newspaper.
The local papers will be looking for a local slant on the covid-19 pandemic. Anything personal will go down really well.
It might not get your injections reinstated (because of morons like those in NHS Tayside) but there's a chance it will if they get sufficient pressure.
I simply can't comprehend the total lack of care regarding our respective injections. Too many GP's / nurses even just think its a nice top up, but for all of us it's life. I can't function properly if I've had a very active month and then get a delayed jab, it's awful. I did exactly as fbirder suggested (minus the newspaper contact, however it would seem like a good idea) made the point of how awful I feel and they were quick to arrange it for me. It's the best option we have I feel!
Just wanted to offer my thanks for all the kind messages. Its nice to find such a wonderful community that all get it! I sincerely hope for all your sakes that these letters sent by the society begin to have a wider impact for you. You're all in my thoughts.
Yes, you are doing it correctly, and welcome Joe. That is wonderful news.
Let's hope other practices are able to follow suit soon.
Perhaps during this outbreak, some practices will learn something : find themselves more aware of how absolutely necessary B12 injections are and how quickly some deteriorate without them. Also they might notice that tablets are not going to do the trick for everyone.
Please, everyone, if your injections have been stopped / your injections have been replaced with tablets and you find that this is not working for you :
Don't prolong deterioration because....
a) you are worried about making a fuss during the pandemic
b) you are frightened of going out to the surgery
c) you think they won't care
d) you think symptoms need to be worse before they will help you
If you don't tell them, they won't know you need help.
Have a look at my post on the thread I've linked to below. I hope you'll find some useful info in case your injections are stopped due to impact of pandemic in the future.
My surgery is closed but my local health authority (Barts Trust, Waltham Forest) are running regular nurse clinics via the out of hours service, so managed to get an appointment with them at another surgery. Had to get a prescription for the injection itself and confirm earlier in the day that I have no covid symptoms, but was actually easier than normal to get it sorted.
It was lovely to have such a stress free experience compared to normal, especially given how much pressure the NHS is under at the moment. I hope those who are struggling manage to find a route through.
