Hey im just knew to this. Been just on google cheaking out symptoms and came accross this group. Ive recently started on b12 injections 2 weeks ago. Last week i started feeling my chest been tight and upper back pain with twinges here and there in both arms. Went to my gp she cheaked my blood pressure and all was fine she mentioned it could be the injections. I suffer with serve health anxiety so its really affecting me everyday im trying to avoid A&E with the covid 19 going around. Is these symptoms normal im driving myself crazy. Thanks in advance

It sounds to me like you are probably short of other vitamins and minerals too. Probably as the B12 has allowed your cells to work properly and repair themselves (a very good thing) they have used up your resources of other things which are now showing some deficiency symptoms - which is not a health problem, you just need more nutrients.

Don't be scared of symptoms - they are your body's way of telling you that something is wrong so you can get it fixed.

The chest tightness and odd pains suggest you may be short of iron but this might be in conjunction with other things - all of which are fixable with diet and supplements.

Several deficiencies show up as anxiety so if you can get a good level of all your vitamins and minerals there's a good chance the anxiety will lessen too.

Ideally you need to ask your Dr to do a full mineral and vitamin profile blood test to see what needs addressing and you will need to get the results printed out for you as ideally everything will need to be in the upper part of the range. If they just tell you the results they are likely to just say they are "normal" unless they are well below range, even if they are a bit borderline.

If they won't do a full profile you should push them to do at least the minerals iron, potassium and magnesium plus the vitamins B9 (folate) and vitamin D.

Once you have had your blood test you will benefit from taking a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus getting extra folate, potassium, magnesium, iron and vitamin D from your diet.

Eat more red meat and fish, a range of vegetables and fruits plus nuts and seeds every day.

Are those the symptoms of anxiety? They sure are.

And low B12 can cause anxiety, so it may be that the injections will reduce your anxiety and the symptoms it is causing.

I had severe back pain when I first started treatment in fact I ended up in hospital twice with it, no real cause was found and it did settle down but it took a good few months to do so.

I know that like a lot of other people I seemed to get worse symptoms before I started to get better.

Hope you start to improve soon

Best wishes
