Just returned from GP's

Hi all, thank goodness for this forum after a visit to the GP.

So, after reading all the current literature I sent, she agreed that I could continue my B12 injections and even have 8 weekly. But today she told me that she doesn't believe my symptoms could possibly be down to the B12 shortage and there must be something else afoot. It is as though she is dismissing the B12 shortage as a nothingness and intimated that she is happy to give me it because of the guidelines but it didn't mean she agreed it would help.

She says I have chronic fatigue syndrome due to the fact that she has tested everything else and nothing shows up (other than the anaemia which made them do B12 test in the first place!) Obviously at the beginning when I was low on B12, anaemic, and given the injections, she must have thought I should now be cured!!

She actually said that the neuralgia in my hands and feet, the tiredness, the low mood (due to frustration I think), the loss of bladder control, tinnitus, gasping for air, bumping into things etcetcetc cannot be down to B12 deficiency because she is letting me have injections and they don't seem to be making any difference. (Mind you I am going back to injecting every other day from now on).

I know you have heard this all before, but I wonder if I am playing on this? but in that case why have I stopped doing the things I enjoy due to having no energy, I think the true test to me is sometimes I can't cope with my grandchildren which never happened before.

I wish someone would come up with an answer and stop playing this down, the day that comes will not be a day too late.

It seems to me you have two choices -

Decide that everything is caused by B12, and carry on injecting.

Or.

Agree that there may be another cause and investigate the possibility while continuing to inject as frequently as you feel necessary.

yes it's my feeling that I will def carry on injecting. Cant do any harm, I really think the GP doesn't understand the extent of damage B12 deficiency can do.
