B12 loading doses timescales

Hi

I’ve posted earlier regarding B12 injection loading doses, my nurse was only available Tues & Wed next week and the following week again, I’ve had the first one this week.

A few people have mentioned in this group that it would be ok to get an injection a week for my loading doses until they are finished instead of having one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday with the days being too close together. I’m slightly confused as I thought the loading doses had to be in the two week period and closer together.

Can anybody tell me does it matter and if I did the weekly injections as apposed to the same week would it change anything or be bad in anyway?

Thanks ☺️

The regime in the UK is usually 6 loading doses over 2 weeks. I.e 3 a week.

In other countries 1 a week for 6 weeks.

2 in one week will do no harm to you. What was being said was your body may feel overwhelmed if very depleted. You may feel fine.

Your body will get rid of any excess . You cant overdose.

Some need to Inject every day or every other day to keep well.

What is difficult is that its left to us to make choices. .

Go by how you are feeling.

If you fine after the first one have one next week and then decide if you want one the following day.

Protocols are different it appears in alot of places.

Whatever you decide wont be bad . The surgery wouldn't offer them if so.

I realise its confusing.

Thank you. I’m new to all of this and wasn’t sure if not having them all within the two week period would be a bad thing in terms of helping me.

I don’t think one a week would be a bad idea, I thought maybe two in two days per two weeks might be abit too much but if I had one a week my body may adjust better.

But the protocol as you say is 6 per the two weeks so wondered if that’s the protocol because it’s better for us in general, again I’m not sure on anything! I am just so very lucky to have been given the loading doses in any form so happy to have whatever I can get 🤣

If I had a choice between one a week over six weeks and two a week over three weeks I would definitely go for the latter.

You want to get the amount of B12 in your body high enough to ensure there's no further nerve damage - as quick as possible.
