Do tinnitus goes away after few months of b12 treatment?
Tinnitus: Do tinnitus goes away after... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Tinnitus
It depends on what caused te tinnitus in the first place.
Mine is, almost certainly, due to going to too many live concerts (Motörhead, Blue Öyster Cult, other bands with Ö in their name). I don't think any amount of B12 will fix mine.
I’d forgotten about all the live concerts I used to go to! I’ve only been aware of the tinnitus since I was diagnosed wit PA 6 months ago...it’s like a constant hissing. No improvement as yet.
It came after the diagnosis of b12 deficiency
as fbirder says there are a number of things that can cause tinnitus.
As it started after B12 supplementation, your best bet is probably to mention it to your GP just in case there is something going on that isn't directly related to B12
tinnitus isn't necessarily a permanent condition - eg if caused by an ear infection.
I have had tinnitus since my twenties. My b12 deficiency could have been causing this symptom, however the regular injections haven’t cured this for me. For a few days the noise is reduced ( or I am more able to ignore) .
I only got tinnitus with b12 deficiency
And after vertigo. It is bad when on this phone and any artificial light on
It was bad all the time
Now I can have quiet times ocassionally
I'm 15 months in
Still get it . I usually get it straight after an I jection then it gives me a break then comes and goes.
Hi,
I had more than one type of tinnitus. Plenty of B12 keeps the high pitched tinnitus at bay but I still have a pulsing form. I had several months of B12 treatment before I noticed changes in levels of tinnitus.
It got better for me, tolerable, but not totally gone.
Wearing hearing aids has stopped my husband’s tinnitus. When he takes them out, the tinnitus is back.
My tinnitus came around the same time as my B12d. However, whilst regular injections have alleviated other symptoms the tinnitus remains.
I assume the tinnitus is caused by reasons other than B12d, especially as my Mum has it even though her B12 levels are ok.
Injections have made no difference to my tinnitus, I don’t know what caused it but I now find it easier to live with.
Mine has improved but it has taken a long time, no improvement when I was getting injection every 3 mths but after almost 3 years of monthly injections it has calmed down considerably and i now have some wonderful quiet times hope yours get better with time
Best Wishes
Mine hasn’t, although I’ve had it for many years so maybe it’s permanent.
Tinnitus is a key indicator for me that I need another B12 injection. When I self-inject regularly (4x/wk), I do not experience any tinnitus; if I skip a few days, it returns. (I did not have it prior to developing pernicious anemia.)
That depends on the cause. I got tinnitus after an ear infection when I was already having B12 injections so mine isn’t connected. Lots of things can trigger tinnitus and stress plays a significant role in the experience. Mine is worse when I have a headache and when I’m stressed. The British Tinnitus Association has a forum on Health Unlocked. They also have an something called Take on Tinnitus which covers causes and coping strategies. Loads of information on their website too.
My tinnitus largely went away (I still get some types of tinnitus).
But the constant high pitched ringing that I experienced when my symptoms were at their worst before and at the very start of treatment did subside over time. It was a big relief.
My high pitched tinnitus is horrible, after GP stopped injections since March 2019.
No, other symptoms I have are extreme tiredness, very sore red/white tongue, forgetfulness & hair loss.
Mine decreased a lot with B12 shots. Somehow it gets stronger again when I have stress, so mine is probably partly neck & jaw muscle related. So, yet another kind of tinnitus. But one that does improve with B12 (though sometimes I have a slight increase after an injection, but overall it gets better). I have asked a similar question last year, and there were very hopeful stories about B12 helping. Hope in your case it will, too!
