It is heartbreaking when a furry friend dies. We lost one of our greyhounds last month after five and a half years. It was quite quick, he went from zooming around the fields to being unable to stand in just four weeks. We found it was a very aggressive bone cancer.

But two weeks ago we took his cousin to the Retired Greyhound Trust for her to pick out her new toy boy. She loves Ron, and he is starting to fill the holes left by Max.

The important thing is to look back on the wonderful life that you gave her and to not let her suffer needlessly at the end.

You can only do what you can do for your cat. I'm sure you will do the best for her. I've been in that position many times with animals. It's the decision making that's the hardest.

Unfortunately so many animals need good homes. She is lucky.

As suggested before did you try changing gPs?

Or Going to a walk in surgery.

Or another route.

Hope you find a way.

I had a tough decision to make early on in this illness. Having adopted a cat from a charity in the February with a known hip problem as a kitten. He just wasn't right though. An absolute darling of course and fitted in with the others.

Turned out he was Fiv positive .

Gave him the best life we could until treatment stopped helping him.

He was only 15 months old when the time came to choose euthanasia for him.

He was on the bed with me most of the time. It was heart breaking nothing else could be done.

It was very peaceful and he was put out of pain. He went from bed to carrier to vet . I too ill to go.... He at least was out of a cage and saw a garden. No drugs for animals yet unlike HIV.

All a bit of a blurr really . It was 3 Months in .

I've been with animals all my life and you know when it's best for them . Not you ,but them to let go.

Take care.
