I have Bile Acid Malabsorption, would this be anything to do with needing 3 monthly B12 injections and Vitamin B compound tablets daily?

Yes, definitely.

You might be better off with a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement instead of the B-Complex as you will need a full range of vitamins and minerals, not just the B vitamins and the broad spectrum tablets have all the B-Complex and everything else you will need as well.

Do not take both as you can have too much of some of the B vitamins.

Thank you so much for replying, my neurologist in London, has been fantastic taking lots of tests, (I went to him for my migraines). He diagnosed my B12 deficiency and wrote a Rx Vitamin B, I am also vegetarian, and your suggestion of a multivitamin is a good idea. I still feel very fatigued a lot of the time. I haven't had my blood taken lately to check my B12 level. ? Is that included in the FBC? Do you have any idea how often these are carried out? Again, thank you.

Once you are supplementing with B12 your blood tests will always show it to be high and can be very misleading so it's much better not to test for it and just go on symptoms. It is very safe so you can experiment with having more and seeing if you improve. If you do then it's almost certainly that!

Have you had your folate, potassium, magnesium, iron and vitamin D levels checked?

If any of these are low you will get the symptoms of B12d or ones similar.

Has it been determined what is causing your BAM? Some of the causes - Crohn's, coeliac's, pancreatic diseases, etc., can hinder B12 absorption. Other causes, like SIBO, are symptoms of the autoimmune gastritis that causes PA. The cause of the BAM will play a big part in what other supplements you may need.

However, it is quite likely that your B12 deficiency is dietary. If you don't take supplements then it's quite difficult to get enough B12 from a vegetarian diet.

Thank you for your advice, I will ask for investigations for the cause of BAM as I didn't realise that it was the cause of other symptoms that frequently occurr.
