I have PA, diagnosed in 2012. I've had the B12 injections since every 12 weeks. Along with the injections, I have been prescribed Vitamin B Strong tablets daily. I am just wondering how much of a difference the tablets will make to any blood test I have regarding my B12 levels? I haven't had any blood tests recently as I SI and I know I won't be to for 4 months to get a clear(ish) result.
I am going to go without the tablets for the next week or so to see if I have any symptoms worsen.
I am a big fan of this Community and have been able to read through such great advice or can link you into somewhere that is relevant to the query.
Thank you guys

Hi StaffsLass what of the many B vitamins are included in the tablets?
You should not need to have your Vitamin B12 levels tested (if that is what you are waiting for) regardless of the fact that you self inject as the results are bound to be skewed and as you have P.A. they are for life.
Testing of serum B12 levels after treatment has commenced is not necessary. (See bottom of page 5) where the 2 months interval of injections for those with neurological symptoms is also reiterated.
I am not a medically trained person but I've had Pernicious Anaemia (one of many causes of B12 deficiency) for more than 47 years.
Are you keeping a logbook and making daily severity assessments for each of your symptoms? Typically, once you are on injections, any subsequent blood test should be off the top of the range. This in not a bad thing. High results confuse the Drs who then want to take you off injections.
Being above the top of the test range is only cause for concern for someone who is not on injections or supplements.
Are you supplementing with folic acid and a daily multivitamin as these can get depleted once you are on injections.
What strength B12 supplements are you taking daily. I use 5000 mcg methyl sublinguals to fill in between my weekly cyano injections.
I typically take 2x at noon and 2x during my evening commute. But I’ll also take a couple about 30 minutes before a meeting to clear my head or any brain fog. Or any time I feeling run down.
Any experiments with your dosage should be for a month, at least two weeks, to clear anything residual in your hepatic loop (small intestine, portal vein, liver, bile, gall bladder, duodenum back into the small intestine).
The same goes for any experiments for food intolerance such as gluten or dairy.
After two weeks, reintroduce the test subject medications or food and monitor your symptoms over the next week. You will see a pattern or sequence of your symptoms.
I was on B strong for many years and it doesnt have B12 in it. When I was first tested for b12 deficiency I was taking them and my levels came back at 142.
Now i just take a B Compelx amongst other vitamin and minerals.
