My neuro today told me to stop taking shots for one month so that the level of b12 in blood should come down...I’m so anxious my symptoms might get worse and come back again...I’m still on improving stage.. any suggestions?

Why was your neuro motivated to bring down your serum B12 level? Does he have any understanding of why you need the B12?

He said 2000 is too much

Personally I think your neurologist needs to do some more investigation around serum B12 post loading shots.

Immediately after a B12 loading shot your serum B12 will be off the scale and it will then fall with time ... and it will fall more over the next month without an injection but then result won't mean anything regardless of whether it falls below 2000 or not.

B12 isn't toxic. It is possible to have a functional B12 deficiency (lots in blood but not enough getting in to cells) if serum B12 levels are high - probably genetic factors - but the easiest treatment for this is to raise serum B12 levels to a point where enough is getting through to cells as the effect is on efficiency of transfer from blood to cells. The same process also seems to make the processes that remove excess B12 from your blood less efficient - meaning that B12 levels reduce more slowly

This article might be a useful starting point for your neurologist

this abstract shows the huge variation between individuals when it comes to removing B12 from blood following an injection

Seems odd. Did he/she give you reasons?

The reason was in future wen I’m planning to carry a child my levels should be low...

I should think that you would need even more if carrying a child as you will need to provide sufficient amounts of B12 for both of you. If you are low on a cellular level to begin with, then you would suffer even more when carrying.

Have a look at this. In particular if you're planning on carrying a child, from 27 minutes onwards.

Incredible!! This should be mandatory viewing on an annual basis for all medical personnel.

My blood cells were huge and my bloodwork "all normal". It was even flagged by a hospital lab but ignored by the Doctor it was sent to. Taken again as a FBC and again huge cells jumping off the page.

I watched over a 6-8 month period that my B12 had not improved despite massive sublingual dosing.

I found this site. I simply can not put into words what a miracle that feels like. Wedgwood gave me the info I needed on SI. Others are a reassuring voice which really did empower me to listen to my little body.

I SI weekly now. I think I will for the rest of my life.

You're so right.

wedgewood was a great help for me also regarding SI. Along with so many others on here who gave great advice.

Hi, my GP also took me off B12 injections for the same reason. But I fought him with info off this fabulous site, and I won, my B12 injections have been restored. If you have PA it is not going to go away, you need injections for life. Good luck.

I’ve found that following MS research for treating the damage to the myelin sheath very useful for treating nerve damage from long term b12 defiency very useful. Lions mane, high dose pharma grade biotin 100 mg 3x a day , gotu kola have all been found to assist in remyelination. Working wonders here.

Obviously you want to keep up with b12, folate, b6, zinc/copper balance supplement, k2 , iron, vitamin d3.
