First SI advice pls - what not to eat (peaches / stone fruits ?) and prolong initial loading doses period?

Hello All,

I've come across a couple of posts that mention not eating peaches, it seems to refer to stomach acids and other stone fruits as well (?), but I can't find more info elaborating on the subject anywhere, pls if anyone has any insight they could share I would be grateful.

I also came across a comment that mentions the return of symptoms from

"misjudging food absorption from diet"

I don't fully understand what this means, any chance someone who does could fill in the gaps?

Does it mean e.g. Vitamin C (like lemon juice) helps boost the absorption of the plant-based iron found in spinach? I did search the subject but no luck.

Also read about how perhaps taking a longer period of time with the initial loading doses may influence how often one has to self inject in future - any experiences of this?

Any other kind posters who have the time to contribute dietary or loading dose tips would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely,

_Rose

I know if you explore fodmap berries have less fructose so are generally more tolerated gastric wise. Vitamin C helps heam iron absorbtion . Smaller amounts of iron in food and supplements throughout the day are usually better absorbed. I'm guessing the misjudging food absorbtion from diet was not knowing exactly what the body has been able to actually use?? When trying to get the right balance of nutrients.

If you have gastric problems fodmap is a good way of discovering what suits your body.

This is only what I've seen work for others. I fortunately eat most things but have neuro problems like migrain and balance still to address. There seems to be no link with food for me. I just need plenty of it to keep on some weight! I hope you get some insight on B12 injections as I've no idea on that as still trying to settle on right frequency myself.

I think vitamin C helps iron absorbtion from all foods actually

Thanks so much Nackapan, I too am a migraineur (as they say), decades of debilitation often triggered by exhaustion - so I should see some relief?

Yes hopefully. Horrid horrid things. I've bought fever few but not tried it yet. I've a good multivit with magnesium in. Neurologist said variant migrain that never really goes away. Noise and light sensitivity. New to me with b12 defiency. I get a headache following injection at times but not a migrain. Florescent lights and stress and exhaustion or even a walk a tad too long (20 mins! !!l) I used to walk miles . my triggers I've identified. Really hope yourso improve. I was given advice today that it's a good idea to have pottassium rich food alongside injections as your pottassium can drop.

Tried the Triptans yet? I've gone through a few to find 'the one', but the pain is exhausting and it takes longer & longer to recover (meds side effect?).

There are Youtube Migraineur self injecting videos I've seen.

I have sumatriptan. When I really needed it couldn't move to get it! Scared of taking it too. But have it. Yes totally exhausting and I find very scary

Thanks

I wonder if you’ve read one of my posts? I had anaphylaxis after eating a peach but then must emphasise that the allergy specialist thought this happened as

1) I have a true allergy to birch tree pollen

2) The protein in peach (and other stone fruits) is bio-identical to birch tree pollen so my immune system reacted as if I had a true allergen in my gut when I ate a peach one particular time

3) Peach protein would normally have been broken down by stomach acid and so would not normally have reached my gut

4) I must have a leaky gut (controversial theory nevertheless put forward by the nhs specialist) to allow the undigested peach proteins to pass beyond the gut and cause my immune system to (over) react.

I don’t recall having read that anyone else has had this problem on this forum so assume that for virtually everyone else, yourself hopefully included, it is not an issue.

I tried to find the peach post but couldn't, one was recent (think I saw 2 - ?). Just so long as it's not a universal reaction and law to avoid stone fruits.

Anyways I've not had a delicious peach that tastes like a peach in too long, so avoid mouthfuls of mush or teeth breakers.

Thanks for your reply JanD236.

Just a point re general health and migraines, we have a tendancy to blame everything on B12 or whatever condition it is we suffer from and yet there can be many factors as everything is reliant on all pathways working well. Google Dr Datis Kharrazian's work on molecular mimicry (you tube/website) The protein structure of foods are similar to specific organ tissue, so brain, heart, thyroid etc which are attacked when a specific food/s are eaten. It's not a jump too far to recognise migraine /brain connection. I had migraines every month for most of my life, gave up gluten and all grains, no more migraines. Dr Datis Kharrazian's book 'Why isn't my brain working'

I would say that Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut) is no longer a theory but a proven issue. Mainstream gastroenterlogist at NHS hospital, Professor David Sanders gave me years ago photocopies of his 'published papers' collaborative colleagues research. He has since written a book 2017 (I think) 'Gluten Attack' (can buy from amazon)
