Has anybody else experienced low sex drive with b12 deficiency?

My sex drive has been low for years and I believe this can be associated with b12 deficiency. I've been supplementing b12 for a full month now but the libido hasn't really returned. Any experience out there?

During a visit to a new Dr several years ago, when I needed to get my B12 prescription refilled and my regular GP was out of the office, I complained about no energy. Being male, the Dr suggested getting testosterone levels tested and they came back low. Rather than increasing the B12, he prescribed androgel that I had to rub on my torso (belly and shoulders mainly). It created a whole lot of new symptoms- some like energy were good but others like aggression- not so good.

I was on the prescription probably for 3 months (can remember at the moment ) and when I reviewed with my regular GP, came off of it.

The hormones are produced like any other molecules in the cells of the body and low B12 will impact them as well.

Since increasing B12 between jab with methyl supplements, I’ve experienced fewer of the low energy as well as fewer low libido incidents.

When first starting on hydroxo injections every three months in the UK, I was asking for more frequent injections of that GP and, suspecting that I was a hypochondriac and experiencing anxiety, he prescribed antidepressants. These caused ED and really this was the main justification that that GP would accept to stop the antidepressants and change to monthly hydroxo injections.

Loss of libido in both men and women is a known symptom - pernicious-anaemia-society....

Yes. Low libido for a while before starting injections. I have been injecting daily for almost 10 months and I am now getting glimpses of it coming back.

Is it a nerve ending thing? I can see this in retrospect.

Very common. I also suffer with Type 1 Diabetes (insulin injections) for the last 43yrs and ED is the most common problem with diabetes and that mixed in with PA and heart issues ED becomes a major problem.

Hi, I was found to have low B12 in Jan, my level was 188. I've been losing weight and also spent 3yrs recovering from Fibromyalgia. I can say my sex drive has gone up lately due to the latter, I didn't even realise my B12 was an issue. I think you might need to consider other reasons for your low sex drive. Have you spoken to your GP? Have they run other tests like Vit D3 and magnesium?
