I initially felt worse then saw lots of improvements when every other day Injections started after initial loading dose. So for me from injection 9. I had neurological symptoms. The dizziness was the first big thing to go . Some people get relief much quicker some take longer. There is no set pattern. Hope you get improvements soon.

Thank you for the reply. Glad to hear you are doing better.

What is a loading dose?

every other day Injections for 2 weeks. Total 6. Then if no neurological symptoms every 2 - 3 monthly hydroxocobalamin injections. In the UK is usual.

Is that what your loading dose was? Every other day for 2 weeks?

That's the UK protocol.

I'm inclined to feel that the Dutch one of weekly jabs for as long as is required is easier on your system and is ultimately better, even if it takes longer for the initial healing to happen... But I'm only taking an educated guess.

Please see Foggyme's reply to the next post for loads of great information.

I’ve had 4 so far; one a week down privately because my doctor said there was no point in my having them as my levels were fine.

I have gone from sleeping 10+ hours a night, needing a 1-2 hour nap, having very little energy after midday, being unable to exercise, and generally feeling like I was asleep with my eyes open to sleeping 7-8 hours and waking up feeling awake, running 5k a couple of times a week, waking up before my alarm and getting to 5pm before I start feeling tired. The fogginess has also lifted. I finally feel awake for the first time in many, many years.

That's great to hear you are doing better!

I just had my second one done today. Had one done last week.

Just curious, were your levels low and if not what made you think B12 could be the issue?

Range was 140-724 and my level was 167 (pmol/l). So I was right at the bottom of the range.

For me, it was 3 or 4 when I started to notice a difference

One injection a week?

I can tell you I began noticing improvement after my loading dose means after one week It's impressive the doctor said, but the acne ruined it for me ... I guess that's the price to pay.

So every other day injections for a week?

Hananan profile image
Hananan in reply to zheshi14

No, here in Morocco it's one injection everyday for a week then once a week for a month then once a month for life ... The doctor may suggest every two months shot after a while .... For my case after the loading dose my b12 level was crazy...

Okay, good to know.

When you initially got your B12 serum levels tested, were they high or low?

Hananan profile image
Hananan in reply to zheshi14

They were unable to recognize anything before the shots they didn't seem to find much so they wrote < the minimum recognizable value I don't remember the minimum exactly but it was nothing, my doctor rushed me to injecting them immediately and she said I was lucky I did the tests on time otherwise It would have been catastrophic. But soon after my level was 14000 and some ...

I had 5 initial injections and didn’t feel any better. Was made to wait 3 months for blood test and was told that I wasn’t getting any more. I have currently gone private and have been getting them every 2 weeks. I have lasted 4 weeks this time and can feel the tingling sensation coming back.

Was your serum level high? Is that why the doctor stopped providing them?

How long have you been getting the new round of injections every 2 weeks? How many until you started feeling better?

My blood test showed in the “normal” level but still had all my symptoms.

I started getting them every 2-3 weeks end of January and have now waited 4 weeks this time. I have had 6 in total and due my next one on Friday. I had 6 before I started feeling a difference.

Okay, mine shows at the higher end of normal.

So you just started feeling better about 4 weeks ago, no?

No noticeable changes prior to the 6th one?

I had someone telling me that I can't have a high B12 serum level AND have PA

I’m not sure about that but there are lots of really informative people on this forum that would be able to give advice.

Yes, I started feeling batter 4 weeks ago after 6 injections.
