Urine test infection detected advice

Just went back to doct with heart palpitations and heavy legs that continue along with hot flushes now, did a urine test that came up positive to infection i have no symptoms of urine infection but had just recently finished menstrual cycle - could this have influenced test as did tell her id just finished menstruating?

Hi sbadd.

Yes, urinalysis with a dipstick can be affected by menstrustion (and pre-post menstrustion).

The only way to know for sure is to have your GP or the surgery nurse do another dipstick to test for the presence of blood, nitrates, protein etc. (potential indicators of infection).

Yes thankyou just strange as no usual symptons but nurse did say sometimes it can happen
