Hi, apologies if this is a silly question. I checked my homocysteine recently and it was ok at 7.5 but I didn't check my MMA because the test was expensive. If Homocysteine is ok does that mean MMA will be ok too or are they not connected?
I have had another 10 alternate day injections about 2 weeks ago then a single B12 a week ago. I still have some symptoms especially this strange tiredness that comes over me and makes me feel spaced out and not fully conscious. And it's usually worse in the morning/early afternoon. And it happens if I walk around a mile or more.
Of course it could be something else going on other than B12.

If your hCys is low then that means there’s enough B12 (and folate) getting into the cells. That means it is very unlikely that MMA could be raised by a lack of B12.
I didn't notice anything until my 3rd maintenance dose - which would have been about 9 months after loading shots. People vary a lot so, yes, you can have an average but that doesn't mean it will apply to you.
macrocytosis - anaemia caused by B12 deficiency - will take a few months.
Hi GastrtisB12 , I also used to get your strange tiredness too, also on regular injections, but I found this after eating gluten/dairy and a walk sometimes it would take me a few hours to recover, I’m also hypothyroid too, possible coeliac as I had high antibodies years ago, but now I’m gf df I’m fine.
Thanks very much, it's good to know I don't need to check MMA.
I was worried maybe I have a functional deficiency and that's why I still had symptoms. Probably just need to be more patient.
I'll try the gluten free as well, although I only have one piece of toast these days and no other wheat products for the rest of the day. No one ever checked my T3 although T4 and TSH were fine, maybe I should get it checked at some point?
I didn't have macrocytosis going by the MCV values in my blood tests. But I had low B12 low iron low ferritin saturation, low red cell folate. Is it true that sometimes you can have some red cells too small, some too big, but the MCV averages out as ok?
