Brexit and medication

I understand most of our meds thyroxin inperticuarly will be coming from Far East They can spend up to two years hanging around before get here.Going through different weather zones in containers is going to change the exact content.

I tried get naxpoxin just simple arthritic med near on impossible apparently only sugar coated could be got the other bits of med could not be sourced...I tried to get betnovite under generic name again hit and miss doc said try different pharmacy’s hopefully at least one will still have suppIies was lucky 3/4 chemist I got some.pharmist said it going to be very difficult...

All the places who made medications like Glaxo Duncan flochards etc all gave up many years ago with EU did not need them. All to little to late now.My doc many scrips returned and doc has to change meds..Some chemists are being a little perdantic there are grey area where chemist could despence something else but not all do.

I really dread Brexit as some epilepsy meds will suffer...my husband taking a blood pressure medication it is expensive one and not usual ones he had massive heart surgery therefore needs these.

my friends husband was refused medication for renal cancer..they went to numerous nhs meetings to get this stuff no luck he died 5yrs before he should have done. Now that was in Wales they had move to England where his chance of getting it were higher to late. Many things already are post code lottery Wales getting worse end of things. Now it going be worse than ever

Ken-ard20 - whilst I agree that it is difficult to know what is going to happen about EU sources of medication this forum is not the place to discuss Brexit in more general terms though this post appears to be attracting those sorts of comments, resulting in the need for many comments to be edited down or out to remove off-topic references.

I am therefore going to close it to further comments.

As you will see from below - shortages of specific items can happen at any time in different countries so a specific shortage at the moment may not be down to Brexit. The NHS is reported to have been stockpiling medications and people may be stockpiling themselves which would also result in a shortage. It is worrying.
