I would like to know what type of b12 injection people are given. My integrative practitioner mentioned that I should have one as I have so many symptoms of deficiency.

In the U.K. the usual form of B12 injections is Hydroxocobalamin. It used to be Cynocobalamin, but Hydroxocobalamin is believed to stay in the system longer . Methylcobalamin is not licenced for use medically here .

But your medical practitioner needs to find out what is causing your symptoms . If you do have Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms , the reason must be established . There are many possibilities .

But whatever the reason for your symptoms , B12 injections can do you no harm . , and you cannot overdose . Best wishes .

reality is that different people respond differently to different types and at present the only way of knowing which type suits you best is to try. hydroxocobalamin is very difficult to get in the US so it tends to be cyano or methyl. If you have a family history of leber's syndrome you should not take cyano but that is the only contra-indication I am aware of.
