First doctor recommended quarterly injections for life after blood test reading of 152 and severe tiredness and irritability. After 6 loading injections nurse queried with new doctor who said my reading could have been a dip and said do nothing for 6 months and then have another blood test. I appealed this with a 3rd doctor (1st doctor had left practice) who said he would get a "different " type of blood test now and it would not be affected by my recent loading injections.
Does anyone know what different blood test he might be referring to and does this seem a sensible approach, please?

Hi wrengh a wiser person than I has commented previously:
"Taking supplements that contain B12 will affect any tests ordered by your doctor to assess your B12 status. You should not take any supplement with B12 before having your B12 assessed (including MMA/homocysteine/Active B12). For testing intrinsic factor antibodies (I.F.A): keep one week between an injection and the test."
So it may be the I.F.A. test the third doctor is referring to.
I am not a medically trained person and wish you well.
be aware - IFA is notoriously insensitive and gives false negatives 40-60%of the time. A positive is good at confirming PA as the cause of a B12 deficiency - but a negative is a long way from ruling out PA
