I'm guessing you are in America as they're very keen on methylcobalamin. Was it a real doctor who gave it to you? Because real doctors over there tend to go for cyanocobalamin.

It sounds like you need to see a neurologist.

My husband has severe left leg pain and numbness , severe back pain and difficulty in walking , he needs crutches to walk . His leg is very week . He had an MRI on his spine which showed degenerative disc disease from osteoarthritis . The pain in his leg is still a mystery but could be radiating from his back , he also was diagnosed with peripheral nuropathy by his nurologist . He takes 300 mg pregabalin , hydrotherapy., and tries to keep active but his condition is very restrictive . His ferritin and platelets are dropping . The mri suggested inflamation within the cord but a CT suggested probably DDD and atrophy . You need futher investigation to rule out subacute degeneration of the cord etc , hopfuly a nurologist will arrange scans etc for you . All the best .

Pernicious anaemia is a bit of a misleading name - PA is actually an auto-immune condition that attacks the gut and leads to problems absorbing B12 ... and hence to B12 deficiency. B12 does a lot of things - one is regulate the production of healthy red blood cells - so one symptom is a type of anaemia in which your red blood cells are larger and rounder than they should be. B12 is also plays a part in the process that recycle neurotransmitters and also in the process that maintains the insulating layer around your nerve cells. This is totally separate from the anaemia, so not all of the symptoms are due to anaemia. The common factor is B12 deficiency not anaemia.

From what you are saying things have changed since you started having injections but not clear if it is an improvement or not. Sometimes the aches and pains really do get worse before they get better.

Also true that different people respond differently to different forms of B12 so it may be that methyl isn't the best form for you and you would be better off with hydroxo or cyanocobalamin. Have you mentioned things to your doctor?
