Tendonitis
Not that I'm aware of specifically but as B12 is required in the maintenance and repair of all cells and therefore all tissues within the body and everyone is affected slightly differently then it is possible/likely.
Ooh, that is why I am here. I have just come over from the thyroid forum. I have hashimotos and have been running for the last couple of years, over this last year I was getting a lot of ankle trouble, specifically in my tendons that felt like tendonitis and then really tight muscles too. The pain in my tendons just wont heal. So I had a private blood test done which shows I had 224 in B12 and low in folate and ferritin as well. I eat well (meat and GF). They thyroid guys there suggest I get tested for pernicious anemia, which I had never heard about, so here I am! Looking like you if hurty tendons and tight muscles can be a symptom! ( I have a bit of pins and needles in morning, Hairloss, tire easily and a ‘fizzy’ feeling in head and mouth too, and struggling to remember words) I’m 46 x
I don’t know about tendonitis , but my very painful Bursitis disappeared after B12 injections ( after diagnosis of P.A. ) I read on American sites that some doctors there treat Bursitis with B12 injections with great success .
This never occurred to me. I’ve had patella tendinitis for many years in both knees. This predated the B12 deficiency by many years and eventually triggered a ruptured perineal tendon requiring surgery and foot reconstruction.
I can’t see there being a link, as my diagnosis suggested that this was triggered by high arches that causes the knee to rotate putting stress on the knees and foot tendons compensate until they rupture.
I had very painful plantar fasciitis for a couple of years and it disappeared after starting B12 shots. I guess it could've been a coincidence.
My plantar fasciitis resolved with thyroid hormone treatment.
I certainly believe that issues such as low B12 and inadequate thyroid hormone levels (and possibly other issues) could well be behind many cases of plantar fasciitis and other musculo-skeletal problems.
My experience is that before I started taking B12 I would wake up with painful Achilles tendons, an aching knee injury, tight muscles and the usual B12 deficiency symptoms. After talking B12 for a few weeks/months they mostly cleared up
So in my experience, yes.
