In what way could they possibly be preferable to B12 pills?

I had a reaction to them - severe facial flushing and swelling.

Were thos pills just B12 or did they contain other vitamins- like B3. Taking too much B3 can cause facial flushing.

Hi, Methlycobalamin 1000mg sublingual (Jarrow). No other B vitamins but obviously a carrier involved. Never been allergic to anything else in my life! I saw a dermatologist who told me that B12 a known vasodilator. Just don't want injections until I know whether or not I may react.

Thank you for your interest and knowledge. It is a very complex area.

never come across B12 as a known vasodilator - and although I haven't looked for very long I can't find much to support the assertion that it is a well known vasodilator - what seems to cross reference is the part B12 plays in regulating homocysteine levels and the affect of homocysteine on blood vessels. Some mention of adenosine but that wouldn't be specifically B12 related.

B12 can cause quite severe rashes in some people but this seems to be generally related to micro-organisms in the skin reacting to higher B12 levels by excreting substances that can be toxic and the skin then reacts to that.

have you checked that it wasn't a reaction to another constituent in the tablet?

do you have a diagnosis of PA or another B12 absorption problem?

there are a number of potential problems with using dessicated products - one of which is being sure that the doseage is consistent.

Hi, it could have been another constituent. Docs not really sure but it was a horrible reaction and still taking medication to keep it under control.

I have a lot still to learn about B12 and I did not realise that there could be another absorption problem other than PA? Yet to get diagnosis but have assumed that it is PA as I am not vegan, minus any part of my intestine and I don't take any other medicines?

All my bloods were normal other than low B12 - 128.

Thank you for your replies.

As you can see, much to learn.
