Self injecting, where to buy supplies US? Bad reaction.

Hi everyone! I purchased methyl powder from oxford biosciences and had the most difficult time finding syringes and NaCL in the US. I ended up finding sterile saline in pre-filled tubes from Healthykin.com.

The first time I did an injection it was okay, but certainly not energizing like the ones I’ve gotten from trimnutrition years ago. I’ve also tried patches which are fabulous, but they leave a sticky residue on skin and don’t always stay on.

The second injection I did made me feel SO awful for the whole day. I felt achey, lethargic, foggy, and swollen. It was really alarming because I’m thinking, Is this company’s product really sterile?! I’ve never bought from them before and I’ve never used the powder either. Also, I gained probably 5 lbs of water weight from taking the shot, guessing it’s the salt content? I don’t really care, I just want it to be safe. Any insight is greatly appreciated!!

Hi S3lf-h3al3r.

First, about the sterile saline in the plastic tubes that you bought from Healthykin.com. I've looked on their website and whilst I can find sterile saline in plastic tubes, I can only spot sterile saline that is intended for wound or eye irrigation...(but I can't read all the packaging) so, unless I've missed something...

Unless it specifically states 'for injection' on the tube or the packaging, then it should not be used for injections (this applies to any substance that's intended for injection).

Also highly unlikely that the normal saline will have caused a 5lb weight gain.

About the methylcobalamin from Oxford Biosciences...

I bought some methylcobalamin from Oxford Biosciences a couple of years ago - and ended up not using it because I was concerned about storage and maintaining the sterile status of the injectable B12.

The Methylcobalamin crystals came in a screw top bottle which had to be opened to add the saline. Once the bottle of methyl crystals and the vial of saline is opened and mixed with the methyl crystals, the sterile integrity of the (now fluid) B12 can no longer be guaranteed and is therefore potentially open to contamination. More specially, it will be some time before all the B12 is used (longer for potential contamination to take place). And the potential for contamination is further increased every time the bottle is handled and a new injection drawn up.

Is it okay to use? Who knows?

Would I advise anybody to inject a substance that has to be stored after the sterile integrity has been broken and which no longer comes from a guaranteed sterile source - no.

Always better to use single dose ampoules for injection purposes 😉.

Added to this, some people react badly to methylcobalamin, so perhaps you may be one of those people. You could try hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin (whichever you can get) to see if that works better for you.

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply Foggyme! I do agree after doing a couple injections out of the screw top bottle it seems questionable. The sodium chloride does say sterile on the box, but not labeled for injection. I think it said for injection on the website listing, but yes this item is for saline flush. Well what an expensive waste of B12. Sighh.. Do you think it’s dangerous to consume the powder? Now I have one full vial of powder and one vial mixed with saline solution.

Do you know where to buy b-12 shots in the US?

I like methyl and have had success with it in the past. I believe trimnutrition is still operating but under the name telewellness and for a higher price tag. I was trying to do this whole thing on the cheap hmmph.

Did you recently inject the nonsterile saline, or was this something that happened a while ago? If this was in the past few days, it might be worth tracking your temperature for the next week-- if you develop an uptick in temperature, or experience any soreness or redness at the injection site, or any GI distress, get right to urgent care for antibiotics.

Regarding your question about MethylB12, the only source for ampules I found was VitaminQuick.com. I found this negative comment about their B12 here: zamunda-net.com/vitaminquic... , which says the ampules are sourced from Hong Kong or China. I decided to order from GoldPharma.cn instead, and bought Rotexmedica hydroxocobalamin, 100 ampules for about $83, shipping included. Rotexmedica is used by many people here, so I don't think it's dodgy; and it has many positive reviews online. Also it has fewer excipients than other brands, and thus less chance of a bad reaction. I haven't tried it yet though.

Hi S3lf-h3al3r. I've checked on the saline flush and doesn't appear to be injection quality...used for flushing all manner of indwelling tubes, eyes, wounds etc., but not suitable for any form of injection 😉.

Not sure about B12 supplies in the US...know some get them from compounding pharmacies (prescription from doctor or naturopath, I think). To sure about source for direct sales wIthout prescription - which Imthinkmis what you're looking for (think some but from Canada).

You could try the search function ('B12 supplies in the USA') or put up a new post asking the question. Quite a few members in the USA and they're pretty good at responding.

Good luck. Hope you find a good socure, at a good price. Quite disgusting how much some suppliers charge, especially for methylcobalamin.
