I had to resign from my career as training manager because an employee thought me a nuisance for being too weak and sick to work (i still got up every morning at 4:50 am worked till 2 or 3 pm,) feeling all the worst of the symptoms. For me the worst is the weight loss, which was so extreme i was labeled as a "tweeker,on drugs" and luckily my boss did not feed into it. She allowed me to resign due to illness, so i may come back when im better. The weight loss is more dramatic than i read about and was told so im really scared of dying before im fully treated. I throw up after i eat and stomach bloats and in pain, then 20 minutes later its as if i never ate at all. Even more strange, multivitamins came up 13 hours later,WHOLE as in undigested. What is going on? I almost cannot take it no more, the suffering is too much. I have more than the symotoms listed and i feel something gross in my gut, like a mass or something. Im scared to death. 167 lbs now yet another lost pound ,118, is too much. I live in the U.S so its harder to diagnose here. Im $10,000 in debt to all the different docs i've seen. I have symptoms that match megaloblastic anemia more than the pernicious. So many unbearable symptoms, very little help. Advice? Newer symptoms include chest pain and i jave to prop myself up on pillows.
Its getting unbearable: I had to resign... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Its getting unbearable
Dear Jenny,
I was suffering from b12 deficiency since childhood, I am now 42 and last year only I was diagnosed for b12 deficiency. You can imagine how I was able to cope up for 41 years. What type of life I would have gone through. Whoever I talked to about my health they would only say that is all in my mind just don't think about your health and carry on with your routine even doctors use to advice me to refer a psychiatrist.
As I was leading a life of struggle I use to think that everyone leads to live like that only. May be they might be leading through their willpower until I started b12 shot since last year.
I am not good in expressing my views since my learning ability was poor due to my illness although I was very much interested in studies I use to study only for 1hr daily and not continuously by taking nap after every 5 minutes and it was very hard me to understand things I studied. I used to get exhausted very soon in the playground while playing. Besides all these I was suffering from ibs, frequent sinusitis due to hypotrophoid inferior turbinate all that was diagnosed 3 years back until then doctors use to treat me with antibiotic for sinusitis. For ibs I stopped taking milk products 3 years back.
After taking b12 shot I imagined what a worst type of life I have been living so many years. What a beautiful life I have missed to live in the past.
There is much more to mention but it will be long to mention.
Oh my goodness, i cannot imagine what you suffered through, its only been 4 or now 5 months for me, but i was an alcoholic for 20 years so thats what caused mine. I quit in 2014 but the damage had been done. I am going to see a hematogist specializing in this so they can run the remaining necessary tests. I am in the US in Tennessee, and in this country its very uncommon and misdiagnosed as mental health like deoression and anxiety, in older ppl over 60 it Alzgeimers and dementia (one of my customers told me this was her diagnosis till she got a second opinion). I would like to hear more of your story if you wish to tell it, i have increased depression thanks to losing my career, i cry every day around tge tine i shoukd be there but it was really necessary since i couldnt handle it anymore. Ive decided to go to school online to have more options other than district retail, it is alot of stress. How long after your b12 shots before you started feeling better? Im sorry you had to live so long with it.
Have you been tested for heliobacter pylori or ulcers?
Have you tried going dairy and gluten free for at least 2 weeks?
Are you on b12 injections and do you supplement with folic acid and a daily multivitamin?
Are you vegan or vegetarian?
No i havent, i had no clue what i had until the b12 deficiency, and then cardiologist said he believes its a condition called pernicious anemia and to find a doctor to do the testing, and i would have to see a gastroenterologist, and a neurologist as well. For the time being (im in the middle of going from work insurance to Tenncare) i was told to take b12 vitamins, iron. 50,000 UI of vit D, multivitamins, folic acid, etc. However, on the day i resigned, i got sick and was vomiting nonstop until one of the vitamins came up whole so it never digested i guess. But the chest pain and stomach pains are what increases the anxieties. I am going to try to go daily and gluten free and see if that helps. I am also going to get checked for the other things you mentioned. And no, i am not vegan or vegetarian. I eat pretty good or used to, it changed when i lost my appetite and couldnt eat. I can now somerimes but it makes my stomach hurt bad.
