Hi I'm new here and hoping for a bit of advice. I have read a lot of people need to supplement between injections. I have found an oral b12 spray which is methylcobalamin and wonder if this is safe to use as my injections are hydroxocobalamin. Many thanks for your advice

Hi Dham. Yes, you can use both forms of B12 at the same time.
Worth noting that some people react badly to methylcobalamin - usually with just headaches but sometimes with other symptoms as well, and supplements (sprays, sublinguals, patches, nasal drops etc.) don't work for everyone....but worth a try, nevertheless.
Have you tried getting more frequent injections from your GP? If you have neurolgical symtpoms prescribing guidelines do allow for more frequent injections - but not many GP's know this.
Come back if you need more advice about this.
Good luck 👍
Thank you. It's took me years to get injections despite my consultant asking for them. I'll be asking for more frequent injections. I never thought a gp could refuse a consultant's request when there was evidence of need. I have various symptoms but my worst two long standing are geographic tongue and lichen planus. Also many newer like fatigue, blurred vision, etc
I'm getting clued up before next week. Thanks again
Also ask to have your Folate (B9) level checked in case you are deficient in that too.
If you are in the U.K. and have neurological symptoms you are entitled to have your injections every eight weeks according to the N.I.C.E guidelines. Click on the link, then on "Scenario: Management" and scroll down to "Treatment for B12 deficiency"

I am not a medically trained person but I've had Pernicious Anaemia (a form of B12 deficiency) for more than 46 years.
I wish you well.
Hi, yes folate has also been checked and I will get results next wee. I've just seen online that Cyanocobalamin 50mcg tablets which I was initially prescribed by gp fall far short of the injections requested by consultant. If my calculation is correct 20 tablets would be needed to make 1 injection.
I'm trying to be well informed before going back.
Thanks for your advice.
