I have been getting injections for 9 weeks now (3x weekly) but am still struggling with the following:
- head pressure
- body feels like it’s vibrating slightly
- foggy vision and eye floaters
- easily breathless
- “earthquake legs” and balance issues
- fatigue
- inability to stand for long periods
I’m also taking a multi, 500mg of mag, 2 bananas for potassium, liquid iron 10ml 2x per day and 4000IU of D...I’ve noticed some improvements but ever so very slowly and some things improve then reappear (like the breathlessness and head pressure). I’m just wondering if it took anyone this long to start to recover? I’m feeling so helpless, like mentally I’m ok but my body won’t cooperate.
Thanks so much.

It is not uncommon for some symptoms to appear to get worse before they get better as the B12 starts repairing the damage done to your nervous system and your brain starts getting multiple messages from part of the body it had "forgotten about" or lost contact with.
I sometimes liken it to a badly tuned radio on which you have turned the volume up high trying to catch the programme you want when all of a sudden the signal comes in loud and clear and the blast nearly deafens you.
A lot will depend on the severity and longevity of your B12 deficiency as to how long before there is no further improvement or recovery.
Some symptoms will "disappear" quite quickly whereas others may take months or even years. There is no set timescale as we are all different.
If you can get to see a doctor please also ask him/her to check your Folate level as this and B12 help your iron to make red blood cells and to function properly.
I am not a medically trained person but I've had P.A. (a form of B12 deficiency) for more than 45 years.
Thank you so much clivealive. I’m taking about 4mg a day of folic acid. But I have not yet gotten blood work to confirm my levels. I’ll try to get in to see my gp.
If you are improving it suggests that it probably is what the problem is so it's worth considering increasing the amount you are having - maybe daily jabs or even more. The number of symptoms you have shows that you have a lot of damage from your deficiency and repairing all this could well take a lot of supplementation.
If you get enough B12 and supporting supplements you can continue to improve for many months, even years.
I get it on and off but my symptoms have improved a lot since I posted this. I believe it is folic acid related for me. The pernicious anemia fb group has helped me tremendously. Still a ways to go though.
