It has come to my attention after years and years of inadequate testing by the NHS in Scotland where the B12 serum test is used which is inadequate to identify a B12 deficiency. B12 serum tests are inadequate for purpose and dangerous depending on your postcode lottery scenario you may never get tested for B12 active or holo transcobalamin but if you live in London and the South East they are 4 hospitals that do the B12 active test they do charge for this about £40 I think the hospital I am referring to is Guys and St Thomas's Hospital if you need your B12 active tested you can get your bloods done and then you can post it to London they will analyse it and give you the results this is a much needed test that most sufferers of B12 deficiency have not been offered by the NHS so what are you waiting for go on the website go to your GP for the blood sample and then post it
Best of luck
If you are unlucky enough to already be injecting B12 then I don't believe the tests will show anything and will show a hi cellular B12 level but anybody who isn't injecting B12 and just taking the capsules the deficiency will show up in the tests and then you can wave it under yourgps nose and get the treatment you require
