Where do you SI?

Just a quick one, (im at family home and the internet here seems to have its heart set on blocking this website ) ive only got a few days left of loading jabs then itll be once a month while we review how often is best with doctors

Ive been SI in the top fatty/muscle part of my leg (switching legs) as it seems to be the easyiest to access and my partner tells me its the least likley spot to cause damage if i mess up (im not really very good a it, ive no fear of needles as ive had all my life in my arm but its quite diffrent when i do it myself, ive twitched with the needle in my leg causing it to move alot and tear out ... i think i hit nerve or somthing , someone did say theres more nerves in leg but i dont know) my nurse always used to do it in my arm and by comparision it wasent this bad at all , painless even ... a family member did it in my arm for me yesterday as legs are getting quite bruised and a bit cut up from slipping when its in .... when family member did in arm it was just like with the nurse it was fine and alot better than the leg when i SI, but it seems very fiddly to SI in the arm on your own (which is how i usually have to do things, upper top half of arm ) its probably all just ny mind making me mess up as it is diffrent doing to yourself but i wondered how people on here went about it doing it?

Of course the important thing is that it does seem to be helping alot, avoiding bruised cut up legs and getting it as pain free as when others do in my arm would be christmas bonus though, ive asked nurses but they say its dangerous to do b12 more than they want (haha) and a midwife friend was going to help me but now shes worried shell get in trouble at work as while abroad doctors say its needed, NHS wont condone... either way symptoms are improving so its not that important ... and i suppose it comes with practice :)

Hope your all having a good day :)

"Needleless "to say, what we need is what Doc McCoy used in Star Trek back in the 1970s :)

I use thighs but do it subQ - there are some people who manage to do it into the buttocks.

Are you doing subQ or IM - if subq then the obvious alternative would be the stomach but not if you are doing IM.

I currently have an expanding bruise in my right arm from a blood test on Wednesday last week - done by a nurse.

May be that as time goes on your hand will get steadier so if you have relatives that can help for a while then that would be good.

It was like a "stun-gun" that he simply pressed against the skin and whatever he was dosing people with went straight through. I remember thinking at the time that my nurse could have done with one of them :)

I remember it, clivealive, perhaps we could ask Santa, next year!

I used to have a nurse who took about 5 minutes to get the stuff into my arm! Sorted now(different nurse :)

I've had 46 years of B12 injections always in the upper arm and apart from the occasional "leak" have had no problems with my several nurses, but of course to S.I. in the arm would be difficult - hence the need for Doc McCoy's injector :)

Thigh or buttocks- it the the “upper” and “outer” quadrant.

I do the buttocks. Thr trick is to use a coin and press and hold it against the skin for 10 seconds. It give a nice red ring to clean with alcohol swab and to aim for with the needle.
