Recently I have been getting periods of what I would describe as jelly legs. My legs and to a certain extent arms feel week and tingly(a bit like pins and needles). It lasts for up to an hour or more. It can keep me awake at night, or if it comes on during the day, I feel that my legs may just give out (though they haven't as yet) I don't know if this is linked to the deficiency. I self inject B12 weekly(I have been doing this for coming up to 6 months now) and this has made such a big difference to by vertigo symptoms and I no longer get the energy level dips that I used to get prior to my 10 weekly injections at the doctors. But this is a new symptom to me!
I have been under a lot of stress recently and don't know if its related to that, or if I am injecting too often, or not often enough!

It is also important that your Folate level is monitored as this is essential to process the B12.
There is a complex interaction between folic acid, vitamin B12 and iron. A deficiency of one may be "masked" by excess of another so the three must always be in balance.
Symptoms of a folate deficiency can include:
symptoms related to anaemia
reduced sense of taste
diarrhoea
numbness and tingling in the feet and hands
muscle weakness
depression
Folic acid works closely with vitamin B12 in making red blood cells and helps iron function properly in the body.
I'm not a medically trained person but I've had P.A. for over 45 years and I wish you well.
Thank you Clivealive. I do take folic acid and iron each day. The iron is on prescription and was recently checked and found to be just within the normal level at the bottom of the normal range. I buy the folic acid online, but just take a 400mg tablet each day. I have no idea if I absorb it though as the reason I am deficient in the first place is due to a gastric bypass and taking high dose Lanzaprasole twice a day due to a history of stomach ulcers. I have only been taking the folic acid for a couple of months after reading a post on here.
