Private blood tests

I saw a recent comment on here explaining about private blood tests, costing £200 which, despite not giving a commentary on the results, nevertheless gave results on a range of important tests that one may not get through the NHS.

If you remember this or even posted this, could you point me in the right direction or copy the post below?

I live in London and would like to investigate this as I have hit a brick wall with my GP.

Many thanks in advance.

I have found the information that I was looking for.

Hi RosalindB, could you maybe post it here anyway for me (or others!) to take a peek at? I wouldn't mind knowing about private investigation options as each GP I see at my practice contradicts the other!

Thanks.

Hi Gilly. What I was looking for was Howard39's reply to Blinkysmom's question "Is there a product or method to improve absorption ". It was from 2/3 days ago. Best I can do - good luck.

Several sources for private tests are listed over on Thyroid UK's site, if that is what you want to know about.

Thanks Helvella, I'll take a look. I do have an under-active thyroid but it has been very constant for the past 17 years so am not actively on that forum. I was particularly interested in the suite of tests mentioned in the answer regarding absorption as this particular organization seems to be the only one that does a test for a lack of stomach acid.

Thanks for the reply.

I know that some of these labs do serum B12 and Active B12 (obviously double-check if not 100% clear). I think some do methylmalonic acid and homocysteine.

Not what you're looking for?
