I'm a 56-year-old woman who recently had a blood test that shows a high level of vitamin B-12. The level is 2000. I have taken the B-12 shots every week with multi vitamins. I don't have diabetes and have read that a high level of B-12 could be linked to liver disease. What test do I need to ask for to see if this is a possibility?

Vitamin B12 level 2000
High B12 can be caused by some nasty things.
But you say you've been taking 'shots' every week. If, by that, you mean you've been having weekly injections of B12 then that is certainly the cause of the high blood levels.
My level was 65 when diagnosed and have hovered between 1500-2000 ever since I started treatment (now every 7 weeks) and I still feel rough within 3-4 weeks of having my injection.
Once you are on jabs blood tests for b12 are not necessary. As the BCSH guidelines state there is not a reliable test to determine levels or pa. No evidence high levels of b12 harmful.
If you are still feeling rough, make sure you have the cofactors that are needed so the b12 can work to help you feel better. These are at least, folate, b6 and potassium.
