So on it goes................

saw a different consultant today - feel so much better having 3 b12 each week for two weeks, and then once a week. today consultant said that after a month I should switch to once a month. when I asked what would happen if some symptoms came back she said they will not as I will be loaded up with b12. Is this right?

As to the terrible pains in feet and legs at night, she said the only way is more and more painkillers? Again, is this right? Feel so well during the day, but in such distress and pain at night.

Oh I do love this forum.

unfortunately the consultant isn't correct. People vary a lot with how B12 levels in their blood relate to how much is actually available in their cells - and it is a long way from being uncommon for symptoms return long before maintenance shots - however, no way of knowing whether or not once a month will suit you without trying it so suggest that you try it.

Also wrong in that painkillers are the only way of treating pain - definitely the easiest though not always effective. Possible that the pain may be related to B12 and might improve over time as the B12 heals things though healing can take a long time. However, B12 will only help if it was part of the problem - which is a way of saying that one way of treating pain is to establish the cause and deal with that. It is also possible in some circumstances for painikillers to actually cause pain. There are probably other forums on HU - search under my communities - that can help you with other strategies for dealing with pain.

Have you tried an Epsom salt bath before bed? Or massaging magnesium oil into your legs before you go to bed? Either of these might help you, and eventually the nerve endings should heal and the pain reduce.
