what next to ask from GP? feeling v ill (fainted doing 21st SI)...

hi all,

Need to go back to GP but what do I ask him to do? am feeling low and weak - want to be up and busy and feeling lethargic, shakey, tingly and 'dissociated' from my body. I'm feeling anxious about the future - am I now an invalid? I have trouble walking in the mornings and some pain in legs all the time (was on crutches 8 months before starting B12 last Sept). I thought the SI would gradually improve this but it now seems to have plateaued/gone backwards. Should I see a specialist to determine the full range of vitamin supplements I might need?

As some here know I am just back from a very active 7 week holiday which did land me in hospital for extra B12... but I survived: learned I needed jabs about every 5 days if v active.

I'm dealing with family squabbles on wills (I do all the admin) plus clearing my mother's house on Friday = physical labour for 13 hours, should have done SI in advance but didn't (last jab was 8 days before). So high stress, long hours and shifting books and furniture....

Felt v weak, did my SI yesterday (my 21st), first try felt like I hit something gristly -more resistance than usual- and it hurt so I withdrew, used new needle and other thigh -- jab ok but I fainted (not just dizziness and loss of sight, complete keel over despite sitting down). Spent rest of day in bed. Today I have to get on with estate admin (deadline of end of April).

I'm taking folate and Ca/D3/Boron/Magnesium though I'm a bit lax at taking the pills. Last tests in Jan showed lowish white cell counts and vit D. Haven't discussed with GP tho he knows about SI.

Sorry to ask again for help (people here have been great so often) - but feel I need to go to GP prepared with a researched proposal- eg what is the right specialist to see. And sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance

Maybe you're simply doing too much.

All supplimenting aside your body needs rest both physically and mentally to heal.

Stress puts healing on hold and it sounds like you're going through lots of it from external sources and also from within due to being poorly.

Pacing is the key here I think.

Your main priority needs to be getting better not trying to please everyone and feeling guilty if you can't.

It's like buying the parts and not letting the mechanic under the bonnet of the car to install them by constantly distracting them with other tasks.

Maybe try to get as much folate as possible from food sources that are not fortified rather that hitting the folic acid too. It's generally always better to get nutrients from food than tablets if your body is capable of doing it.

thank you, that made me smile as you're completely right-- I'm the oldest sister of 4, so of course I have to do everything :-). I have just farmed out a load of admin tasks (just checking data) to my siblings and my husband and plan to go back to bed...

I've always pushed myself through barriers (international triathlete, long-distance cyclist, 80 hour standard work week) and am really struggling with the notion it is hard work to walk around the garden...

thanks again - good advice and I'll try to follow it.
