Allergic reactions to Vit B12 injections
Can you give more details Syuri ?
How many injections have you had and is it hydroxocobamalin?
Are you in the U.K?
I'm not medically trained but there are others on here who can give you good advice
Sorry, new to this and pressed send too early. I've been having the injections for 2 years with no problems. However on my last injection back in November I suffered allergic reaction (swelling of nose, lips, tongue, rapid pulse, severe itching all over). I was given tablet which eventually calmed everything down over 3 hours. But now I cannot have another B12 until they find the problem. My appointment for this is not until May. Has anyone else had similar allergy problem and how was it dealt with? Thank you.
if you were okay with B12 for 2 years then it isn't an allergy to the B12 but would seem to be a response to something in the B12 - your GP needs to look into it - may be that the brand has changed and you are allergic to one of the ingredients in the new brand - discussed on the thread that Hidden has highlighted.
Thank you. I will do.
I also had b12 injections for about 2 years then I started having serious allergic reactions , now I have to take 180 mg of Fexofenadine and a further10/20 mg of citirizine a day and carry an epipen for the rest of my life . My problem is I am very low onb12 again and suffering quite severe symptoms including vertigo and I’m not sure what treatment I will be safe to have, feeling quite desperate to be honest .
Hi. Have you had an allergy test to see if you can take any of the 3 different b12 njections?
I developed a problem with b12 injection post 3 years after starting it. The injections resulted in a extreme anxiety state 24-48 hours later. This continued for 3 months when I stopped my treatment. 2 months back a doctor wrote a prescription for the injection that contained b12, folic acid and nicotinamide. It seemed to have worked really well. While I did developed a small rash after the 7th injection, I am fine with it.
My suggestion would be ask your doctor to switch the composition.
